Well i'm buying a motherboard tomarrow and despite all the problems every kt333 board has i'm gettting one. Right now i'm leaning towards the EPOX 8K3A+. I used to want the Gigabyte GA-7VRXP but we all know about the problems with thoses. Anyways i figured i'd give it one last try and see what the masses think about the boards. The poll is based on the overall package. Just tell me what you think.

Thanks, RandomFool

Also feel free to post any complants/praise about any of the boards.

Only complaint I could have about the MSI KT3 ULTRA-ARU is only 5 PCI slots. I would prefer 6 but I would never use all of them anyway.

It would be nice to keep this thread around. I was posting the same darn message every day it seemed.

Maybe if I get more energy tomorrow I will post my final 8K3A+ recommendation

I'm planning to buy the MSI KT3 for my sons new computer. My experience with MSI mobo's has been great and they are very stable - stability is high on my list of features.

I tested all of those boards "Except" the Abit and Asus, and the MSI board came out on top in every test. Now to mention it comes with everything but a toilet. The Epox is good but let me tell you their Tech Support isn't all that great. I finally put the MSI in my own system and it is flawless thus far.

Do not buy the GA-7VRXP unless you LIKE fixing problems. I'm returning mine and getting a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU. The board has voltage problems, power management problems, missing capacitors...whatever. Too much crap...

So, it's looking like everyone likes the MSI board. I'm getting a new board sometime this month, and I'm not sure if I want the MSI or the Epox. I personally think stability is THE MOST important feature in a mobo. Everyone seems to think the MSI is very stable, but I would apreciate it if someone would comment on the Epox stability.
Thanks!

I tested out the Epox 8KHA+ and the Epox 8K3A+ and both worked great. Stability was fine. However, the 8KHA+ failed on me after about 45 days and I RMA'd it which took 2 months to get back. When I got it back, it wasn't fixed. I finally talked Frys Electronics into giving me a refund due to the trouble. The 8K3A+ worked well, but I still like the MSI better and I am now leary of Epox's tech support.

I have an A7V333-R and the amount of jumpers could be an obstacle if you don't like jumpers, but it does throw in two of the up-and-coming technologies that look useful (FireWire and USB 2.0).

If I could buy again, I'd be tempted to get an EPoX 8K3A+ for the true real-time CPU-diode temperature readings, and just throw in a FireWire and/or USB 2.0 card when the time came that I needed either one. The MSI board may have core readings too, or it may be set up like the A7V333, where it reads the core temperature to guard against overheat, but gives the user a socket-thermistor reading in BIOS or via software.

MSI owners, when you suddenly load your system, do you see the temperature spike within 10 seconds, or do the readings rise slowly and stabilize over the course of a minute or more? The response time is evidence as to whether the reading is directly from the core (fast) or from a socket thermistor (slower).

Overall, I'd look to the forum users for help in solving the tougher tech-support questions, rather than any of the mobo companies.

My Epox reads about 10-15c higher than what it should. Not sure I would call that true real-time readings. I've read a few people with Epox boards having the same problem.

What type of readings do you get Flashram? Remember, an AMD core actually operates at up to 90C (although I'd be trying to keep it below 75C myself). I'd rather get used to finally seeing the true temperature of the CPU core, rather than various estimations by socket thermistors...

well it looks like th MSI board is the people's choice. i looked over the anandtech article and the only thing is that it looks like the raid controller on this board isnt the greatest choice. i want to hook raid up on the new board i get so do any of you using this board see a big performance hit..... what is my best choice???

The problems with the GA-7VRXP only arise when you run a high-end video card like a GF4 Ti or a 8500.
