I just picked up a second 60GB Maxtor drive to match my existing drive so I can setup a raid-0 on my KT7-RAID.
Both drives work flawlessly (in UDMA 5) when setup individually. But produce data corruption when joined in a raid. When setting up the raid I don't change any cables or drive settings other than creating the raid in the Highpoint controller's bios. They do work together in PIO 4 mode, but that makes them slower then they are individually.
My hardware is as follows:
KT7-RAID
2x256MB modules Crucial 133 CAS 2
GeForce2 MX AGP
SB Live! Value
Hauppauge WinTV-D
Kingston KNE100TX Fast Ethernet
30GB IBM 75GXP
2x 60GB Maxtor 5400rpm
Toshiba 16X DVD
Yamaha 8/8/24 CDRW
Drive configuration is:
IDE 1 Master IBM 75GXP
IDE 1 Slave none
IDE 2 Master DVD
IDE 2 Slave CDRW
IDE 3 Master Maxtor
IDE 3 Slave none
IDE 4 Master Maxtor
IDE 4 Slave none
The problem also happens when I tried the Windows 2000 built-in software raid setup. I have tried placing all my bios options to their safety settings. I have the latest via 4in1 drivers, and the latest KT7 bios. I know there is a Via686B southbridge problem with data corruption, but I have the Via686A southbridge. I'm pretty sure it's not the 4in1 driver since the data corruption also happens in dos mode when formatting and copying partitions on to the raid. I also tried to do a fresh Windows 2000 install from CD on to the raid, but it failed.
Update:
I pulled the SB live! and the data corruption problems disappeared. I'm probably going to pickup a Santa Cruz, but was wondering if someone else has run into this problem on the KT7-Raid.
