Do you ever experience boot-up problems with the KT7A-RAID mobo? My system specs as below. Duron 800 is NOT overclocked.
I am frequently unable to boot my system. After pressing the power-on switch on my casing, nothing happens. Meaning fans won't move, HDDs won's spin, etc...Totally no power supplied to all components. I am using a AMD-Certified Wintech 300W PSU. Tried another 235W CWT PSU also same result.

I have also tried to configure all components part-by-part, starting with bare mobo with CPU, RAM and Graphics card. Adding each component and test if system boots. But addition of each component works flawlessly and system boots normally each time!! It's only when I try to power-on system after system has been off for long period(eg. cold-booting system in morning), then will the system be unbootable as decribed above.

The only way I can boot the system is to plug out some cables(eg. ATA cables), then re-attach them and system will boot!! Pulling out the power-cable that connects the wall electrical-socket to my PSU, then plugging-in again will also boot the system!! I am damn freaked-out by this menacing problem!!

Help?

Yes, I have had the same freak problem. It has only happened a few times though. One time I had to put the power plug into a different outlet. Most of the time I just pull the plug out of the PSU and then put it back in. I do not know why it happens but it happens so infrequently that I didn't even think it had anything to do with my mobo.

I'll be dammed i am having quite the same problem. just installed the kt7a-raid into a full tower 300w abit...
I can't turn the thing on - sometimes... Here is the thing. If i unplug the computer from the back, wait a minute (literally, you have to wait a little while - can't just plug and unplug) - then plug back in you get the nice boot screen, etc etc works fine.... then go to shut down normally.... forget about it the dam thing never comes back up again.... have to unplug and wait replugg...... i just cant figure this thing out. what the hell do i do? i suspect a grounding problem, but all the studs are correctly placed and grounded the best i can tell.

The difference i am having compared with the guy above is that my mobo has the fans spinning --- but a totally dead screen. at first i thought i fried the video card or agp slot..... now i realize that ???a bad capacitor??? hey i aint no tech guy or anything... i just need some help getting rid of the problem.

HELP ME TOO AUGH!!!

well, i just tried their tech support (or lack thereof) number.... well after calling about 20 times, i got Tony's voice mail wich was full and was hung up on..... needless to say no help at all. "TECH SUPPORT NUMBER" (510) 492-0968 -- not that anyone will answer. [does anyone know a human tech number instead of a line that just keeps rinning and rinning?]

maybe they came out with a bad batch of mobos?

the serial number on my board is 01010009847-002. what sn do you guys have? i am really stumped because if you just unplug the thing it works. Grrr. i hope there is someone out there who can help.

Most likely to be your power supply. Many power supplys say something like 250 in the cover, but you have to look for the "MAX Output", that's the real output, because I had one power supply, its label was xxx 250, it was for my Celeron syste, then I upgrade to Duron with KT7-RAID, and still using the same power supply, after tries and tries, I thought the broard was a faulty. The problem was the power supply, the MAX Output was only 115W... (not Volt) Watts. Then I bought a "REAL" 300W, then everything is fine.
Now I am using KT7A-RAID.

Did you go into the Soft Menu and set the Multiplier and all that, the default is 500Mhz so it'll give problems sometimes, if not then I don't know. I havent had any probs with my ABIT yet.

Ok I have had this problem with alot of ABIT boards. My last experience was with the ram I put in Mushkin REV 2 128 and bam it worked. I have also seen a problem where I had to bump up the voltage. I have also had to power up with the insert key held down which should work all the time.

And last but not least when you get into Windows and it reboots you will have to delete around 8 files. You can find this out at the KT7 FAQ site.
