I am in the market for a good 2-4 port KVM, but the problem is I have heard reports of some KVM's having issues with wireless keyboard and mouses.

I was looking to find out if anyone has a Logitech MX Duo that they are using with a KVM, how well it works and if they are having any problems with the additional features that the MX Duo has built in.

I tried the MX Duo on a Zonet KVM and it would not work.

I have used a Linksys KVM switch with my cordless Microsoft keyboard & mouse with no troubles, & an IOGear one with troubles: definite blurriness of text.

I haven't used one with a Logitech though sorry.

I will be. My worry is I have heard both wireless issues with some KVM's and also lost of media buttons. I don't care so much for the linux rig, but the windows rig they are very handy.

You will only have problems if you use a PS-2 KVM, My logtech mouse will work with a USB to PS-2 adapter , but the extra buttons are disabled, so you can only use it like a two button scroll mouse.
That is with or without My KVM.

Wow, thanks for the feed back. I just got back from a wedding and I was happy to find that it does work with some.

I use the Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical set with a linksys KVM switch, it works fine except that the machines don't detect them as anything besides generic keyboards and mice.

do you lose the special functionality of the keyboard and mouse such as keyboard hotkeys and forward/back mouse buttons?

I have a USB IOgear KVM and a Logitech MX700 and a Logitech Wireless Keyboard...both work with the kvm on windows xp, windows 2003, and mandrake linux. However the special features of the mouse that requires logitech Mouseware drivers to be install doesn't work. Hope this helps.

FYI.....I was able to get the MX Duo to work with the IO Gear model GC632U 2 port usb kvm. I am also able to use all the hotkeys and special mouse features once I install the logitech drivers.

I bought the simple belkin USB KVM switch to use with the Logitech duo. It seems to be working ok. I had a problem first with switch switching back after 5 seconds and one of the lights on the switch flashing while another was on.

I swapped the cabbles and it seems to be working fine now. One system runs winxp andother is win2k. I use Matroc Parhelia dual monitor setup so only one monitor is switching. Video quality is acceptable, I do not notice any degradation from the direct connection between Matrox and monitor.

All mouse buttons work. Most keyboard functionality works, except the keyboard scroll wheel and I don't think I can switch i-functions. But I have not been using them much. For now, it's a keeper

Don't have a MX duo but did find a KVM that would allow me to use the thumb button on my Logitech Mouseman Wheel.

It's the Airlink, 2-port mini kvm, model AKVM-2. Got it on sale at Fry's for $20. Tried a couple other mini KVMs with no luck but the Airlink model has a 'reset' hotkey option. When you switch between PCs you lose the thumb button but when you do the 'reset' you get the button back. Am very happy with it. Video quality is excellent on my NEC 1960NXi LCD monitor at 1280x1024.
