I don't know jack about KVM's ... are belkin's good? I need something that can do 1280x1024 .. a four port would be ideal .. but probably out of my price range. It's imperative that it doesn't ghost at high res otherwise it's useless to me. A two port would suffice but I'm looking for value here .. I have not very much cash.
Let me know what's what in the world of KVM's ...please and thank you.

belkin make a nice kvm swicth that will handle the higher res faily well. Just have nice quality cables to connect everything. Well your main pc at least.

Here's a store for you.

I had the Belkin, but I like my IOGear better. The Belkin claimed to be USB and PS2 compatable, but what it really does is convert USB to PS2. The problem with that is the throughput of PS2 and the inability to use my USB keyboard with hub and stuff.

We have a 2 Belkin KVM switches for the other server farm and the admin there seems to like them. I'd go ahead and go Belkin since they make good stuff and the price is right.

I own one of these:

Belkin F1D104 OmniView

It works great up to 1600x1200. It is USB and PS2 compatible converting everything to USB. I would recommend Belkin as well, they make some quality products.

believe it or not, this one worked well for me at said resolution. played some MOH but best of all no appreciable quality loss in the workspace.

I like the GCS84A (the second one). The biggest difference I can see is the keyboard hot-key control. I know this one is solidly built because I have the usb version.

I have the IOGEAR GCS84A and it works great! Solidly built, easy to use, and no video degradation. I run mine at 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz and notice no ghosting or fuzziness, even using 15' cables (it comes with 2-4' and 2-6' cables). It also can be had for less than $96 including cables and shipping from Buy.com. edit: which is over $40 cheaper than at kvm-switches-online.com!!!!!

Thanks dudes! I'm checking it out right now .. I'm checking to see if they ship to Canada

edit: they suck, as far as international shipping is concerned, and not only that, but I will get nailed with a tariff or something too, so I can't order from the states. NCIX has iogear KVMs though .. what do you guys think of this one?

edit edit: That is the GCS84A .. nice Pricey though
