I figured I'd ask for opinions.
I have 2 LG monitors (each have 2 HDMI ports on them) connected to my Desktop PC. And I'm using a wireless Logitech MK520 Mouse/Keyboard (via USB unifying receiver).
With Covid and working from home 100%, I'm also using my work laptop (a Dell with Dell DW15 docking station that has 1 HDMI, 1 MiniDP, and one VGA port). So I've connected the Dock's HDMI port to HDMI2 port on Monitor A, and I'm using a MiniDP to HDMI cable to connect the dock's MiniDP to HDMI2 on Monitor B.
To "switch" I have to switch input on Monitor A, switch the input on Monitor B, and move the USB receiver for the keyboard between ports on the PC vs Laptop's Dock. Yeah, not too bad when I was working from home 1 day a week (pre-covid), and for the first month or two since Covid, but its getting old. And with now learning we aren't returning to the office "until further notice", which will be reviewed in early 2021, I need to simplify and make it easier/quicker.
Since I've used KVM's back in the PS2 Mouse/Keyboard and VGA days, I assume I want a KVM to do this now, but then I've also seen keyboards/mice that work with multiple PCs. I thinking the multi-PC Keyboard/Mouse would only eliminate the need to moving my current Logitech's unifying receiver, which is why'd I probably be better with KVM.
That being said, thought about.... Is KVM the right way to go? Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced 2 or 3 PC KVM that supports dual monitor pass-through? (I say 3 port, because I could connect my Surface Pro 4 to it then)
