<<<Talk about not being able to take a joke, lets face it tho anyone who runs a fan site must be a fan? I am sorry for pointing out something in fun but yourself, uktaxman and powervr2 are the biggest poster of pro-kyro info, there is nothing wrong with that but sometimes you must try to remain unbiased to people who put forward a decent argument.>>>
Nowhere in my last post did I deny that I or anyone else was a fan of the PowerVR tech nor did I ever say I consider anything wrong with me being called a PowerVR fan. The point is nobody ever attacked you and thats the statment I took issue with, just to refresh your memory "Blimey I am getting attacked on all fronts from the 4 biggest kyro II fans."
My ability to take a joke has nothing to do with it. If that was a joke then why not indicate that its a joke by using a smily or something, otherwise how am I supposed to know that was a joke? I'm not telepathic you know.
<<<And as for upgrading a cpu latter on thats a good point but by then you will probably need a 'proper' dx9 card and the need to upgrade the card will again crop up (to a kyro III or whatever). I would suggest you try to look at the kyro card slight more subjectively, yes they are a nice card with a good turn of speed but unfortunately I think they missed their chance. By the time they release a truly competitive card, one which could win OEM contracts the X-box will have been released and we will be well on the way to the nv25/nv30 or radeon 2.>>>
I haven't been unsubjective, I've made my points with fact were as you've made a statement based on nothing more then guess work. You said that you doubted that the Kyro II would go below $100 and when I asked why you thought that you said "I just dont think that the 64mb card could get much cheaper". You obviously don't know much about the chip so your statement is total guess work, now if you don't really know that the chip won't go below $100 then why would you say that you believe it won't? Maybe you should be less subjective.
Also there are now 10 new manufacturers making Kyro II cards and lots of them are 32mb so some of then will certainly be around $70-$80.
<<<The Nforce has an intergrated mx400/gts core and has 4.2gb of bandwidth, this should put it between the mx and GTS which is where the kyro II seems to sit, plus the branch prediction is supposed to add some performance and I cant see why it wont be around the Kyro II performance. Would you buy a Kyro II if you had the Nforce motherboard ? I dont think you will find many people would consider this.>>>
Would anyone buy an Nforce board if they already have a Kyro II and a half decent mobo?, thats another way to look at it.
Also 4.2gb bandwidth really isn't too hot when you consider that that bandwidth is for everything not just the graphics card.
<<<The GTS was hardly too "large" or "complex" for the Crush chipset, afterall, if you recall they are effectively the same core, just with slightly different memory interfaces and clockspeeds. You could just as easily say the Crush has an integrated GF2 Ultra as MX because they are pretty much the same core at different clockspeeds. The main differentiation between them being the available memory bandwidth.>>>
No there not, the MX has 2 pixel pipes while the GTS, Pro and Ultra have 4 pixel pipes, they cut the GTS in half to get a budget card (the MX) so obviously the MX is much cheaper then the GTS.
<<<Nobody's denying that the Kyro2 is a good board. But putting it on a pedestal while torpedoing the competition with false statements is not the way to help your cause.>>>
Funny isn't that exactly what Nvidia have tried to do to Kyro II? Infact they just forgot about putting there products on pedestals and concentrated on torpedoing the Kyro II with false statments instead.
<<<From what I understand of the definition of 'troll' it is someone who makes a statement knowing full well the negative reaction it will get, eg. Nvdia best video card manufacturer ever ! would to me be considered a troll statement. As would saying that a certain company (who's product that person is known to strongly dislike) is stopping the game development going forward.>>>
Trolling would be saying something like that without trying to explain the reasoning behind the statement, I believe powervr2 did go on to explain his reasoning.
PowerVR WILL have something very impressive for us in the not to distant future and i'd be very suprised if it wasn't DX8 compliant, also don't discount the possibility of free FSAA (and when I say free I mean totally free!!)
