Another tip is to stay away from using molotovs if you're having trouble killing hunters. They can wipe half your health in a few seconds if set on fire, and no one sees that you are pounced, or is stunned.

Valve removed the hunter on fire damage bonus in a previous patch. Or was that only removed for Versus?

I agree that tweaks should be made to this mode. But I do think it works pretty well and is a lot of fun for a first release.

I don't like when people get all prepared for a tank and throw a molotov, and run away (like what is common in campaign). It is on normal difficulty so if everyone just stands their ground and blasts away with T2 weapons, the tank can drop in 5-10 seconds.

I usually don't like when people pile up all of the tanks and canisters behind the area we are defending. They think that it's gonna be so great to have this nice stash of things to throw one at a time, but really things go too quick and if you aren't shooting, you are reloading or helping someone up. It usually isn't worth it to stop shooting to grab something and throw it, then shoot it (like hitting a tank with gas or propane) when those few seconds could drop the tank in the first place if they were shooting instead.

Although I do agree it's unfortunate to have all of these items that just get blown away in the first few waves, I'd rather do that then spend the time screwing with them in the middle of the chaos.

The best I have done in Lighthouse map is about 7:30 when we were in the back, dark room by the bathroom. I do want to try the larger room off that where the kitchen stuff is.

Kitchen/fireplace room for Lighthouse.

You can do 10+ minutes; it's not that hard really.

-Shotguns only (sorry, but only idiots use anything else on that level)
-pistols for as much as possible other than tanks
-use molotovs to suppress hordes, especially just before the time a tank is about to bust in
-pipes for distracting hordes when going outside for ammo/health runs (everyone should get ammo/health all at once or bad things tend to happen)

They removed the fire damage from lighting yourself on fire with environmental fire (like burning gas barrels or the fire from the blown up gas station), but if you are lit on fire by the survivors (moltov, gas can) you still get some damage bonus. It's not as dramatic as it used to be, but it's still can be worth your while to light yourself up if you see a survivor throw fire down.

Hopefully after the free day of L4D, Valve will consider dropping the price. It's been what 8+ months (since I bought it pre-release) and it is still $49.99. Kinda ridiculous since it has sold very well.

There have been numerous sales on the game since its release. Maybe a couple months from now we'll see a permanent price drop.

Selling very well is a reason to hold the price were it is, not drop it. Basic supply vs. demand there.

I agree with the first part though and I think we'll see a permanent drop soon.

I went for 17 or so minutes last night in the Dead Air Terminal, something wasn't working right though. We went a good five minutes with no tank, and then had a few at once and other weird stuff like that. We kept hearing boomers, but only ever saw one the whole time. After I died, I noticed a bunch of hunters stuck behind a gate in front of a doorway on the second floor. I guess they spawned there and couldn't get out?

Bathroom?

We went 15+ min in there with the carts/trash cans blocking the door (some guys idea), no boomers the whole time, tanks are easy if you team up on them, a few hunters.

Wow, blocking actually works? When I played terminal, I used to shoot luggage and carts near our area for camping, but all it did was give the horde a speed bump to walk over.

Nope, we were just in the corner near the desk, didn't block anything.

Things get glitchy after 14-15 minutes...you often get less or no tanks; same with special infected...

Apparently it's a known issue on the steam forums; i've not looked into it, but friends of mine have.

Another tip is that if you're using the auto-shotty and others are using the M-16, use your pistols until the horde gets pretty close. The shotty loses a lot of power at range. Let you riflemen take care of thinning the herd at long ranges, as well as picking off smokers and hunters. The more ammo the shotgunners conserve, the better your changes of mauling a tank.

I like to use the mini 14 rather than the m-16. The bullet can go through several zombies in a row. Plus you can hit smokers, hunters, and boomers before they get to close.

I ws with one group playing in the generator room lever and they did insisted I grab the auto-shotty.

These maps are great for the mini-14 because it is so accurate when you are not running around.

It is at $23.99 on steam now. That should get a lot more takers.
