He didn't want her hanging around with the hiphop/tattooed/diamond teeth/sideways hat/untied shoes/baggy pants/underwear showing/rap crowd, which he thought could hurt her (and his) image. He thought this crowd was predominantly black.
Instead of listing all of the characteristics of this crowd, he simply said "black people". Ignorant of him and highly stereotypical.

He is a billionaire jew, so of course there are major cultural differences that he didn't want his girlfriend involved with. He wanted to protect his image; I can't blame him for that.

I am sure you have stereotypes as well. Whether it be about certain sexes or races with regard to driving, or how certain cultures like certain foods.
The important thing here is that these thoughts not be made public and should not impact how you run your organization if you are an owner.

She was baiting him to talk about minorities and he didn't say anything bad, other than she shouldn't associate with them. If he had a few drinks beforehand, he could have said some really bad things (based on his track record)

One of your quotes was "sworn testimony". The other 4 were all hearsay. Like I said, we can only go off the tape (hard, indisputable evidence) and yes he's a bigot and isn't a fan of black culture, but that's his opinion. Painting a picture that he hates all blacks is a little extreme, even if you believe the sworn testimony that he said blacks smelled bad in the apartment building. I was surprised by last nights Inside the NBA to actually see some good discussion coming from Chuck - Kenny (understandably) doesn't seem able to separate his emotion from his analysis and EJ/Shaq didn't say all that much. Most of the media seem content on just slamming Sterling for the easy headline but I think there's been an absence of actual analysis of what NBA bylaws actually state and allow for. Because it's not being handled in a court of law, I don't think the fact the tapes were [probably] illegally obtained matters in anything more than principal.

But I have to side with Chuck (and Mark Cuban for the most part) - while Sterling might be a racist, he does have the right to be racist. He does not have the right to run his organization in a racist manner - but that's not the matter at hand either (not currently at least). I think the most that Silver will be able to do is enforce upon him whatever the NBA's "Constitution" allows for under the umbrella of "You made us look bad" - which is unfortunate not because it won't go as far as people 'want' it to but rather because not going 'that far' will then reflect poorly on the NBA/Silver. I think if Sterling is to be ousted, it will have to come from peer and public pressure because I don't see the NBA being able to do it without itself possibly becoming legally vulnerable - his assets are still his assets.

Maybe they can swing it so that they can buy off Sterling's ownership somehow, but that's going to be tricky at the very least.

Also I would in some capacity agree that his comments are pretty 'soft' [for] racism.

I don't think he hates Magic because he is black. We would have to see the photo they are talking about. Maybe others were in the photo? Maybe he dislikes Magic for other reasons?
