Lack of deals

Has anybody else noticed a lack of CPU/Motherboard deals at the Egg. Sunday when I was not ready to jump there was the smoking deal on the Phenom II 920 plus combo deals. Now there seems to be no deals on CPUs and Motherboards. Guess I can wait some more.

what? deals? most people like to choose the motherboard not get the cheapy ecs free with cpu purchase motherboard..(not that ecs cheap free mobos are not useful ) just not my first choice for a 200+$ cpu..

For the last month and half to two months you could always pick up a Phenom II plus 790 series board and get at least $40 off. Then over the weekend I noticed the Phonom II 920 at a great deal by itself and combos with 790 based boards for around $200, now not only is that deal gone, but nearly all of the CPU/motherboard deals are gone. There are still some good buys on Phenom II 720s/710s IMO, but you will need to spend $40 more than a week ago due to the lack of the combo deals.

To the extent this thread warns us NOT to bother looking for CPU/MOBO deals today, I say good on the OP.

TO the extent I just bought the phenom II 920 for 130, the sunbeam cooler for 30, the gskill ram for 50, and to the extent i found all these deals on this forum, I couldn't care less

Also to what extent to deals on other components increase when there are new releases on video cards? Think there is any causation there? Since I know we are at standstill at the high end right now.

That was a March-only promotion by AMD called March AMDness. It wasn't a NewEgg-only promotion - I saw the same thing (with the same name!) advertised at ZipZoomFly as well a week or two ago.

Now that it's over there are other deals to look for.
