Some women unrelated to the incidence just went to the station and dropped them off.

Seems like they couldn't get the ransom, or sell them off to anyone else. Not sure about that person who dropped them off though.

That's brutal. I hope they manage to catch the guy and get the dogs back. Sadly this probably happens all the time and we only hear about it because it's to a celebrity. There was a weird thing in my city going around a couple years ago where people kept getting their dogs stolen. Makes me sad to think of what probably happens to these dogs. Probably sold as bait to fisheries, or used as fighting dogs or other stuff like that depending on the breed.

I doubt they are chopping them up for bait or fighting. These are high dollar french bulldogs.

And there are also expensive but popular mixes. Labradoodle for example.

The thing is, if your going to own a dog, the cost in food, upkeep, vet, will quickly outpace your initial purchase price. So why not get a good one? Yea, sometimes mutts are great, but Mutts have a lifespan of about 12 years. If health and lifespan is what you are selecting for, their are pure breeds that will do 20.

the various bulldog breeds are a complete travesty against nature, lol. English bulldogs can't be born naturally--they all have to be C-section because the pups' heads are too big. Natural births would kill mother and pups. Obviously, this isn't something that nature would establish.

Pugs tend to have enlarged eyes that don't really fit in their tiny orbital sockets, so the fricking eyeballs can pop out pretty easily if the little dummy gets too excited and bumps into a wall, leaving an eye dangling from its optic nerve and the terrified owner now trying to shove it back in. They don't respire very effectively, so can easily overheat and die of heat stroke if you let them play outside too long.

Paid 2K for my Lab about 4 years ago.

Yeah my labradoodle was $3k so I have a hard time getting worked up about those prices. At the time I thought it was a lot but it’s not much in the grand scheme of dog ownership and I’ve heard of much worse, especially with the great dog shortage of 2020 and 2021. He doesn’t make me sneeze, is highly intelligent, playful and generally an all around very good boy.

Also those quoted prices are for puppies, there isn’t a “market” at those prices for adults ...

2K doesn't sound too crazy for a pure bred and baby frenchies are adorable, but they get kinda fugly when they grow up. Plus they have health problems. Glad the dogs are safe and hope the walker heals up. I'm sure Gaga will take care of him. But seriously, just get a rescue dog if you can or really research your breeder.

My $75 rescue lab/pit mix was the best investment I've made in the last 5 years though.

My dog is a pit mix. He gets comments and stopped on the street all the time for his cuteness/handsomeness overload. He just loves humans. Pits are totally misunderstood creatures.

Dogs were returned. Some woman came to the police station and turned them in acting like she just randomly found them.
