Nashua, N.H. police are saying today that their use of a Taser in arresting a Newton woman was warranted under the "force continuum," which allows for incremental use of force during an arrest – from police officer presence up to and including deadly force.

"They have an issue with groups of people coming in and one person providing the money so they can all get in line separately and each buy multiple items in the store, goods that they then ship overseas and sell for four-times more money," Hansen said. "In effect, if a group of 10 people do that, they can leave with 20 items."

first of all, wtf is this whole 'force continuum' about? alright folks, here you have it... the police are justified to eff you up. your rights are slowly being eroded :whiste:

and then what is the deal with Apple? so what if someone wants to buy a 100 items and ship them overseas? who cares? you're getting your money, amirite?

police were able to place one of Xiaojie's hands in cuffs but she was twisting on the ground, holding her other arm underneath her.
A person laying on the ground is quite dangerous.

I'd rather face a baton than risk heart failure from the shock. A taser IS deadly force, just not so common as an actual gun, but they do kill. I refuse to accept any use of them except in circumstances where a gun would have been used instead, particularly allowed in response to a weapon, etc.

Using a taser instead of grabbing a person is abhorrent policy.

If they're going to use deadly force on anyone that resists, then they will be met with the same.
Deadly force is a taser

I see your edit now, and while yes a FEW have died it's far from likely...people have died from being grabbed before too, and she was grabbed, first by one officer yet she continued to resist and then by a second, only when she continued to resist both officers did they taser her sorry ass...completely justified

Relevant portion of article since you must have not read it
At that point the officer attempted to place Xiaojie in handcuffs outside the store, but she resisted and the two ended up on the ground. Hansen said police were able to place one of Xiaojie's hands in cuffs but she was twisting on the ground, holding her other arm underneath her.

A second officer arrived to assist and after failing to get Xiaojie's other arm into the cuffs, she was Tasered, Hansen said

If she was paying retail, who cares? I could understand buying a bunch of subsidized phones and potentially ditching her contract (and country etc), but otherwise, that's a pretty capricious policy. I mean, what are they afraid, a real iphone being sold in China?

Other potential Apple customers.

Apple stocks their products here for sale to Americans. They send product overseas for sale to those people.

Just had a pair try to steal 4 Kindles from Best Buy yesterday. Now they'll be doing major time for

Both Allen and Wingate have been charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree theft in the Best Buy case, with Allen facing additional charges of resisting arrest, providing false information and an outstanding theft warrant; Wingate was also charged with felony eluding.

Force continuum is police presense, followed by verbal commands, followed by soft techniques, followed by hard techniques, followed by deadly force.

Deadly force can't be used unless the officers or other peoples lives are at risk. Every other level can be used if someone continues to resist arrest. And no tasers aren't deadly force.

The lady was being trespassed. She refused to leave. She disobeyed and resisted. She continued to resist after being taken down. Tasering was justified. In the old days she would have just been bludgeoned by billy clubs.

She was not tased for "trying to buy too many iphones".

More than 2 phones apparently is too many phones for that store. But you're right, that woman was booted out earlier for acting weird.

More people have died from being held down by Wal-Mart employees than from police tazers. More people have also died from being held down or "grabbed" by police than from tazers. You simply shouldn't start altercations with the police if you don't want to risk injury or death.

"They have an issue with groups of people coming in and one person providing the money so they can all get in line separately and each buy multiple items in the store, goods that they then ship overseas and sell for four-times more money,"

Isn't this exactly what Apple did in moving their manufacturing of the product in question oversees in the first place?
