I've never heard that before. About 98% of all ladybugs I've ever seen have had spots.. I don't think that would bode well for their survival.

I did find this no-spot one going in for the kill.. heh.

Both Male and female ladybugs can have spots. The male is just usually smaller.

Just go outside with it!

Start looking around.. you'll be amazed at all the things you can find to take pictures of. And when you find something, take pic after pic after pic. That's the only way you're going to learn, plus it greatly increases your chances of getting a good shot.

The trick is getting really good at it, which I am not.. I just point and shoot, and sometimes I get lucky and get a nice shot or two, out of the 30 - 40 I take.

Those were just the best few pics(and the ones that fit the theme) out of the 45 pics I took of the ladybugs.

When it gets a little warmer you'll have to see if you can find some damselflies Eli. Their copulation posture is much more interesting and graceful than the beetles'.

Lordy, the ladybugs were hard enough.. It would be very difficult to get nice shots of anything that flies with my cam.. especially something as jumpy and quick as a dragonfly(as we call them around here). The shutter lag is horrible. I suppose I could use continuous drive and hope I get a good shot...

Heh.. Does it burn holes in your eyes to look at consumer digicam pics?
