I have been playing the game Neverwinternights on multiplayer for some time now, and without any lag. I do have dialup and it runs at 42 k usualy. I knows its probably incredible I havent had any lag up untill last week with this bad a conection, but it played really nice before.
I logged onto a game server in NWN last week, and the screen locked in the game. The only way out was windows key and the tab key. It only did that on that one server but never happend again. But ever since I have been lagging in the multiplayer server It doesnt lag in single player games, just online especialy with alot of people playing at same time.
A couple weeks ago, the modem protector in my APC battery backup failed to work. I went and hooked a phone line to it, and it doesnt go online or even work. I called APC and they said I probably got a spike through the phone line and fried the APC. So they are sending me a new one under the warranty.
So I am wondering if this lag that I have been getting the past week all of a sudden has anything to do with what happend through the phone line? I have also been getting static line noise on the phone for the past month which comes and goes, so if that has anything to do with it? Could the modem be damaged, and is there any way I can run a test of some sort?
