Since when is screwing someone out of legally earned wages OK because they voted for Trump?. I hate the Cheeto as much as anyone, but what's plain wrong does not change.

Under this classification of bankruptcy, when an organization owes employees wages, the employees then become creditors of the bankrupt company. As with other creditors, employees who are owed wages share in the remaining assets of bankrupt employer.

Nope, born in Mass and life-log Democrat. Yes, these people were ding-bats to support Trump but that still does not mean they should be screwed over.

Most of the time at least the employee's get what they earned, they are the least able to absorb the loss, I don't give a shit about what "classification" the bankruptcy is. You can leave politics, policy, party affiliation completely out of this. Seems like YOU think this is fair, it's not.

And she proposed spending $30B in aid to these places to take care of the people who can't work anymore and to train the ones that can to relevant industries.

Yup, they spit on that offer because it came from a Democrat and the retraining may require them to pull up roots and relocate to where the jobs they would be trained for are located. All of those things are Horrible Things! The Republicans promised to revive the coal industry through some kind of magic which would allow them to carry on their lives without disruption, just like their ancestors in the industry. I have to give a tip of the hat to the Republicans in that they have successfully poisoned Democrats so that their voters will not even consider voting for one,. That loyalty to the party and hate of the other allows the Republican party members to make all kinds of promises during their campaigns that they have no intentions of fulfilling. Their out is to blame the Democrats for obstructing and that conservative voters need to vote for more Republicans.

The problems with the coal miners is their fear of change, a fear that Republicans have turned to their advantage using lies and deception. It's the miners who need to wake up and smell the coffee before anything can change, and that's very unlikely due to the steady diet of racism, misogyny and hate that Republicans are feeding them.

It sucks that they aren't getting paid but like others have said already elections have consequences. The people got exactly what they have been voting for all of their lives and they are not happy about the outcome. I think that maybe they need to actually start paying attention to what the people they vote for are doing instead of being single-issue voters and immediately pulling the lever on anyone with an R next to their name because "the evil Demonrat wants to take my gun".
Did they 'vote" to make screwing people out of hourly wages justifiable?, this is not a policy enactment, it's plain fucking over working people, I hope you know the difference.

I sincerely hope it happens to each and every one of you scumbags that think people deserve to be screwed over for their labor.

Christ, it could be a woman who works HR or something for all you know - nothing to do with ranting and raving for coal or for Trump.

You guys have such a narrow mindset - it really shows what pieces of shit you insignificant fucks are.

You don't read so good, huh?

Maybe vote for more pro labor politicians then. Morally I don’t disagree, this company should have known for months that it was going under yet they still operated right till the rope ran out leaving people with empty pockets. I humbly submit they shouldn’t be allowed to do that.

Took every last penny they could get, with cornholio for the little guy. Perfectly legal, I suspect.

Interestingly the company was supposed to file a bond with the state since they've been around less than five years that would have assured some pay or potentially bumped these guys up the priority list in a bankruptcy proceeding but apparently the process is entirely voluntary. They did not post such a bond. The state has no mechanism to see if a new mining business sets up shop and to actively require the bond which doesn't sound like an accident. Lots of winking at the state level here too.

I guess next time somebody tells you your job has to go because you are causing human extinction, you should vote for a truth teller who cares and wants to do something about your fate.

I can't tell who you're referring to as the truth teller, lol

These people probably have "coal is great" beat into their heads by their families, state and coal companies just like here in WV. It's similar to the type of brainwashing religion uses starting when you are very young. Why they remain loyal is beyond me. I guess it's like a faith thing or they are afraid of change. Many men also feel worthless if they can't provide for their families without "taking a handout". They are taught social programs are bad all their lives. Those safety nets exist for a reason (for the time being). You sure as hell don't see corporations refusing to take subsidies yet some men are too proud to apply for SNAP or HUD. It's also doesn't help that they keep supporting politicians who work against them while telling them they are going to help them.

If you all get a chance watch "Blood on the Mountain" (2016). It's about coal mining in WV. It's currently not streaming on any service but it has been on Amazon Prime and Netflix in the past.

Of course, I know the difference. How am I supposed to help the people of Kentucky when they refuse to try to help themselves by voting against themselves? I could have told them that voting for the party of the Billionaires for more than 40 years would result in these kinds of outcomes but they would have told me to go fuck myself because I'm a dirty socialist.

I guess there is not much there to do but coal, Walmart, or hospitals. Trump is an A++ liar, bullshitter and these people, (and many in the Midwest) were hearing what they wanted to hear while ignoring reality. That reality is coal is a dirty fuel that is rapidly losing ground. Just like GM announced jobs were leaving after Trump told all those rust-belt desperado's "don't sell your home, the jobs are all coming back!". If this flaming bag of dog-poo wins the popular vote again I'm done with it.

Why would they vote for Trump?

In March of 2016, Hillary Clinton said in a CNN town hall: "We're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business."

This is exactly the outcome Democrats proposed, regardless of Trump being powerless to make good on his fraudulent promises of "bringing back coal". Hope for a better future inspires people a hell of a lot more than telling them to eat dirt. More than your messages of hatred for them. When I tell you to do better, it has NOTHING to do with appeasing Trump or Trump policies. It has everything to do with working class Americans and your utter failure to connect with them and to TELL them that you are there FOR them. To help them.

Clinton was at least smart enough to realize, post election, that it was a huge moment, her "greatest campaign misstep".

Would that you could listen to voices of reason. And at least attempt to win an election rather than beat down these workers with further scorn and malice. The comments in this thread are not ones for a civil discourse. But something that beggars any hope of restitution with those who feel abandoned. Mine is an aim to reach out and offer them a path forward with Democrats. To show them OUR hope for a better future. If only you had any.

For those to lazy to click on a non-foxnews link such as the one posted above

Instead of dividing people the way Donald Trump does, let’s reunite around politics that will bring jobs and opportunities to all these under-served poor communities. So, for example, I’m the only candidate who has a policy about how to bring economic opportunity using clean renewable energy as the key into coal country. Because we’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business, right, Tim? [Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) was in the audience.]

And we’re going to make it clear that we don’t want to forget those people. Those people labored in those mines for generations, losing their health, often losing their lives to turn on our lights and power our factories. Now we’ve got to move away from coal and all the other fossil fuels, but I don’t want to move away from the people who did the best they could to produce energy that we relied on.

Watch Kentucky vote for him in a landslide again. Just like they'll reelect Traitor Turtle despite him doing precisely dick for them. I guaran-fucking-tee.

Whatever happens to these miners that got thrown under the GOP bus, they will still vote Repub because guns guns guns, abortions are evil (as if all of them give a shit)and inexplicably so, they are still thinking brown rapist immigrants are coming to take their coal mining jobs away from them because "they heard it being said" by FOX talking heads who report that "they heard it being said".

That the GOP leaders know they have to keep these folks voting for them will result in even more extreme concentrated efforts to lie and deceive them because, well, that's all these corrupted bought-out designer suited politicians of theirs have left to offer.

These out of work miners will keep voting against their own best interests because they've been thoroughly convinced that there is no other way to go.

Rates of a deadly form of black lung are the highest they’ve been in 45 years among coal miners according to federal experts as well as a rise in people who have contracted 2nd hand mesothelioma who have direct exposure to them, their clothing, their hair, etc...

Why does nobody talk about this. Why do conservatives only care about these people when they can use them Politically? Coal is coming back folks!!!!

Why aren't these people used as the usual DUHversion when there is a mass murder tragedy in this country?

Count me in the not "almost sorry" camp. These are the shitstains that continue to elect Moscow Mitch year after year like clockwork and would string Obama or Hillary up in a tree in a New York minute given the chance. Almost given up on Trump? Then I almost wish that near miss asteroid last week landed in your backyard.

Agreed, I’ve said it a few times this year.
I’m tired of hearing these people whine:
Coal miners
Family Farmers
Production workers

They literally voted for this shit. The President was very clear about what he was going to do and few of them listened.
Deal with it, you voted for this shit.
