Actually, this was the latest (and perhaps, hopefully last) example of the Lakers being carried only the backs of Kobe & Shaq. 4 HOFers? Naw, it's always been these 2 HOFers vs. the world. That's not enough now to cut it against a hungry & healthy, young team.

The Lakers know they didn't have the winning formula this year and should be making some major moves soon to improve for next season. I'm expecting Buss to do whatever it takes to keep Kobe onboard (they have a fairly close relationship) with everybody else but Shaq being allowed to dangle as trade-bait. Buss will probably realize that he'll have to delve deeper into his pockets to field a team full of smart & energetic, young bucks to complement the Dynamic Duo. Should this happen, there's no reason to believe the Lakers won't compete for a title next year.

So I won't 'suck on it.' 3 championship trophies and 4 Finals appearances in 5 years isn't bad at all. Congrats to the Pistons and their genuine fans on your excellent play on your way to a well-earned trophy. :beer:

The pure Laker haters and Piston bandwagoners can continue to bask in all their ignorance and shadenfreude. Disappointed as I am, I haven't lost all faith in my team, as no true sports fans do. 2nd place after all ain't all that bad. I'll be sure to have a most happy and fun SoCal summer despite the last week's happenings, too. Thanks for the interest, really.

I disagree,

because Shaq and Kobe are both ballhogs, particularly Kobe, the rest of their team tends to TANK when
the going gets slightly tough. To give Shaq and Kobe more touches, this is what the Lakers has done

Got rid of Elden Cambell, (because he couldn't play with Shaq)
Got rid of Eddie Jones, (Because he was taking away Kobe's playing time)
God rid of Nick Van Axel (To make more shots for Kobe)

Because of the way the Laker team is setup around Kobe and Shaq, it leaves a serious void in their point guard position, meaning it's hard for a point guard to play if Kobe has the ball all the time.
Nick Van Exel, Derrick Fisher, and now Gary Payton have all been burn by every single point guard imaginable, Stockton, Bibby, Parker, ....you name it. It's just the way the Laker offense is setup. Point guards are suppose to setup you offense, but the Lakers only want their point guards to be spot up shooters.....especially Payton. It's hard for Payton to be a good trash talker if he can only shoot 2-3 times a game while watching Kobe shoot 30. How can Payton be a play maker if the ball is always in Kobe's hands?

Seriously, Malone really deserved a ring even if getting it wasn't through his efforts. His Jazz days were marvelous.... which can't be said about his other teammates besides short-shorts Stockton. He gets injured all the time because he puts himself out there to play his ass off.... but he wasted too many years on a city that can't even host a decent Olympics.

Oh well.... Lakers got owned so bad, their lawyers are claiming black-on-black crime:shocked:

you're clueless. the reason why they got rid of campbell was because he had a 7yr/49mil contract. the only way they could dump that was to package eddie jones with him. and they didnt exactly do that badly getting glen rice in return. as for van excel, well he had attitude problems. also phil jackson has won 9 rings with his point gaurd-less triangle system so your argument holds no water.

Darko is quite interesting...Dumars has to see something in him. He is ridiculous young though so who knows. Hopefully he comes around.
