I don't know what kind of advice he's given odom, but $9-10m for 3-4 years in this climate is a jackpot. So many are signing for the $6m midlevel exception, including AI for a 1 year contract, who made $20m this year.

Maybe not per year, but some teams might offer him more years.
5 years at $7mil per year = $35 mil (plus in Dallas, Texas there is no state income tax)
3 years at $9mil per year = $27mil (plus California shaft you up the bum income tax)
At his age he's not getting another contract worth much after this one.
