"Next year's draft, the #1 pick will probably be LeBron James coming out of St. Vincent St. Mary high school in Ohio. Will he go to the worst team? Nope. He will go to the Knicks, or another team in a huge market, as he can easily be the next Kobe or even better."
I wish this were true, but LeBron is NOT eligible for the draft unfortunately because he's only a junior right now. He has to have graduated to move up to the NBA, it's (one of their only, seemingly) policy.
As far as the Lakers go, I am not by any stretch of the imagination a Laker fan, and I live in Southern California. I have a LOT of respect for Shaquille O'Neal, Devean George, Brian Shaw, Robert Horry, and Mitch Richmond... THAT'S IT. However, here's the bottom line, Bibby alone (who is the man) cannot win a game for his team when his teammates CANNOT HIT FREE-THROWS!
You cannot win a game making a little over half of your free-throws. That's ridiculous! I was watching the game and all I could think was, 'these guys killed themselves at the line.' Bad calls or not, it was game 7, and they had to step up. Bibby showed up (over and over again) but the other guys in general did not execute when needed (namely at the free-throw line, and the two horrible 3-point attempts at the end)
As far as I'm concerned, the team that will hurt the Lakers next season is a team MOST would not expect... the Clippers (YES, you read that right, the Clippers)
Here's why: a.) they already proved they have the talent to hang with the Lake-show, b.) they have two first-round picks in the draft they can use to get new guys, or give away for one veteran, and c.) being in L.A. as well, the refs tend to play it somewhat fairly as the fanbase is now fairly split in the arena.
Fisher vs McInnis (these guys play to a stand-still, Fisher has 3-point shooting ability, McInnis has a nice floating jumper)
Bryant vs Maggette (Bryant gets his 25 or so, and last game, we all saw Maggette SMOKE Kobe for 33, so Maggette plays Kobe 'alright'. Bryant still has advantage though)
Fox vs Odom (Is there honestly a question here? Odom is far more versatile and can easily work Fox with no problem)
Horry vs Brand (Again, Horry has a beautiful 3-point touch, but Brand defines the 'power' in power forward. Brand easily scores more often and more consistently)
O'Neal vs Olowokandi (Shaq will get his 30 points or what-not against anybody, but he has been having his share of problems against the equal-height Olowokandi lately. Olowokandi has improved by LEAPS AND BOUNDS in this past season. Watch for more improvement, and a slightly bigger Olowokandi by next season. He's finally becoming the player he was expected to be four years ago when he was drafted.)
There's my take, it's only worth $0.02, there will be no refunds offered though
