Holy crap. You make an outrageous claim that 95% of sports writers say the Lakers are worse now. I ask for links to this, and you tell me to prove you're wrong?

I'm convinced you arent older than 15-16.

And I'm convinced you're a mentally retarded Lakers fan who's inhaled too much LA smog. And as far as I'm concerned, I have nothing to prove to you - you can go fucking jump off a cliff. There's a lot more Lakers fans in here that are more level headed and intelligent as you are and realize that the league has adjusted to the biggest, most lopsided trade in the history of the NBA.

Yes, thinking the defending champs are better than your old and broken home-team means i've inhaled too much smog.

I wont even ignore you when/if this forum makes the switch. I actually think you bring comedy to the NBA threads.

Vegas has the Lakers as the hands-down favorite. Maybe they've inhaled too much smog.

You'll be the only person I ignore, which hopefully we get that option. I'd rather read Arcadio posts than listen to your crap. We should meet up for a beer next time I'm in CA and see if we could tolerate each other, or who throws the first punch at least. I'm thinking that after watching a season of Artest taking stupid shots, you'd be on edge to punch me before I open my mouth.

Like others have mentioned, the fact that Artest is decent defender will help the lakers out very well as Kobe doesn't have to defend the best guy on the other team so he'll have more energy on the offensive side. One of the reasons Artest shoots poorly is that he tried to be the go to guy in Houston when T-Mac went out. Now that he's on a team with Kobe, the odds of Artest getting the ball with a few seconds left so he can take a bad shot is pretty slim. Not to mention the way the triangle offense works (provided Artest learns this in the offseason), he should only get the ball when he's open so he can take a good shot. Lakers are going to be a hard team to beat in the post next season.

Anyway, glad to see Omar finally signed. Lakers!

The Pau trade wasn't the most lopsided trade in history. That honor IMO belongs to the Vlade Divac-Kobe Bryant draft day trade. Of which we were the beneficiaries, as well, but oh well

No one knew how Bryant was going to translate to the NBA - the Gasol trade was screwed up, and very lopsided.

No to mention Divac was a half decent player (during the Webber/Bibby Kings). Kwame Brown is only fit to be waving a towel over his head at the end of a bench.

It wasn't a bad trade at the time. It was an attempt to win now with Divac, vs. invest in Kobe to win later. Kobe wasn't exactly a lebron coming out of high school either, there was a definite risk.

Every year until delusional lakers fans realize he is a bust of the highest order.

Ive been harping Bynum as a bust for forever. Nobody here seems to believe me except a chosen few.

Hes going to be a 'developing' player for his whole career. Or he will just get injured (yet again) and fade into obscurity.

He is *NOT* good. He is clumsy. He cant control his own body. He fouls as much as Greg Oden. Why can people already label Greg Oden as a bust and then say Bynum is 'developing' in the same sentence.

What about his playoff stats? They drop off considerably. Seems to me like he is just good against sub-par teams

06 - 07 playoffs - 4 PPG (LOL!)
08 - 09 Playoffs - 6.3 PPG (DOUBLE LOL!!)

EDIT: LOL i just checked out his rebounding stats too

Regular Season:
07 - 08 RPG: 10.2
08 - 09 RPG: 8

Playoffs:
07 - 08 RPG: 4.6
08 - 09 RPG: 3.7

DUDE HIS NUMBERS GET CUT IN HALF DURING THE PLAYOFFS. HE BLOWS.

Nice try. In 08-09 he was also up in turnovers, personal fouls, while down in shooting % and assists (relatively even in ft% and steals.) It was definitely a disappointing year for him.

Averaging more points coming off a knee-injury? Sounds good to me. There is still a chance that he can be your stereotypical bust-center. However, it will be due to injury, not because he cant play.

The Lakers will repeat as NBA Champions. Who else will beat them? The Cavs and 90 year old Shaq? The Spurs or the Celtics with their 90 year old cores? Orlando, who traded Hedo for Vince?

The Lakers have the best player in the NBA today, Kobe Bryant. They have the best coach in NBA history, Phil Jackson. They kept their core essentially the same, only trading Trevor Ariza for Ron Artest (a sidegrade at worst, an upgrade at best). They are heavy favorites to repeat this year, and from the sports sites I've been reading (ESPN, SI), that sentiment is almost universally echoed there.

Maybe on an "unbiased" site like SpursTalk laugh, the Lakers aren't favorites to repeat, but everywhere else in reality, the Lakers are heavy favorites to start their second dynasty this decade!

I think the only person who disagrees with this is DougP. The lakers are still the clear favorite to win it. This is coming from me, a huge Suns fan ().

Bynum still sucks

I agree...they WAY overpaid for Bynum, after what...half a good season then a debilitating injury?

Huge mistake to compete with themselves and sign Bynum to a huge contract before they had to.

He took more shots too and was less effective per shot. Overall, last year he was worse than the year before. A lot has to do with injuries, which have interrupted and setback his growth, but it won't get any easier as the accrued toll of injuries start degrading his potential.

The jury is still out for how good he can eventually be. If the Lakers get a chance for a young center with potential, I think they'll give up on Bynum.
