Lamb burgers FTW

So the local butcher shop gets fresh ground lamb in once a week so I decided to make some lamb burgers. Man, I'll be hard pressed to make a beef burger at home ever again.


Howto (in case anyone wants to be like me)

1 lb ground lamb
1 egg
3/4 cup quick oats
bit of salt/pepper to taste
seasonings (rosemary oregano etc)

Mix well and make into 4 patties. Rub a little olive oil on the patties to keep them from sticking to the plate/each other. BBQ until done, adding cheese after flipping once.

I like mine with dijon mustard, mayo, pickles, tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms (in a little bit of garlic and salt), and alfalfa sprouts instead of lettuce.

I've never had deer before, but my roommate went hunting a few months ago and we still have a few hundred pounds of moose left over. It makes EXCELLENT chili.

The local grocery store also has pre-made ostrich and bison patties as well. Ostrich is really good.

Can't say I care for lamb (other then a mint-glazed & roasted rack of) ... my Mom used to make it all the time when I was a kid & I think I just ate it too often.

that's interesting....sounds very good....have to try that..

I've been grilling Bubba Burgers with seasonings for a while now.....

Sounds delicious. I wish it didn't take so much work to get all the gristle out of a leg of lamp for Shish Kabob, otherwise I'd be making it all the time.

That does sound good!

I might try that recipe with ground turkey instead of lamb, though. I'm not much of a fan of lamb.

I made a goat burger a few days ago and it was awesome. Goat meat has a pretty strong taste has less fat content, so the trick is to add in herbs and add in some cheese. I also chopped in some shitake and onions into the meat. That, with some Brooklyn lager ... mmMMM !

I don't know about goat. After drinking goat's milk it became apparent to me that the goat smells like that on the inside too.

Although, I do like goat's milk yogurt.
