My dad has a big house on Peconic Bay in Mattituck, and it's one of the loveliest spots in the world IMO. Fortunately he got in before the wineries were a big business and the Hamptons folks started hitting the North Fork - that house has quadrupled in value over the last 12 years or so.

CA is the like the 5th largest economy in the world. I'd hardly consider it lame, although it'd be a cold day in hell before I moved there. I'm to much of a simple country person to move into that overpriced pretentious taxball nightmare. But you do offer me highly competitive prices on computer wares so that state was never in my running.

And Texas is the top exporter in the United States, more than $98 billion in 2003. there's some really idiots on this board that vote for the states that carry their crappy states.
