McGregor is one of the elite mixed martial arts fighters in the world, but has never boxed before, either amateur or pro.
Thinking about going to see it live.
Downside is it's $40 a ticket at the local cinema. And 4 hours. And starts at like 8pm EST.
So the UFC champion, who apparently has never boxed before, and isn't allowed to use MMA moves, is going against against a 49-0 champion boxer? I thought it was going to be an awesome boxing vs. MMA fight. Bleh.
Apparently Mayweather thinks he's going to net $300+ million out of the deal though, dang!

Yeah, it's not interesting from a boxing or competitive perspective, it's a spectacle, McGregor has no chance at all. It's literally the best boxer of all time vs. a guy who has never boxed before. Can't make this shit up.
I'll try to find a bar to watch but anyone who pays for this is a sucker.
I disagree about him having no chance at all.
Have you seen Mayweather fight? His hand speed and accuracy are unreal. Professional caliber, champion caliber boxers have tried everything against him. What is McGregor going to do that Mayweather hasn't seen before?
I mean, anything can happen, I get it, but I don't see any reason to think McGregor has a better chance than a professional boxer.
Of course I have seen him fight, he is now 40, I just dont think there is ZERO chance. Lameweather in an MMA fight would be zero chance of him winning.

I think any professional boxer, even at 40, would wax a guy that hasn't boxed before.
While he has made his name as a mixed martial artist, McGregor was once a promising young boxer. He walked into the Crumlin Boxing Club in Dublin at the age of 12 and his first trainer, Phil Sutcliffe, spoke to Boxing News about what McGregor was like in those developmental stages.
“He was just like any other kid who walked into the gym wanting to join a boxing club, he had to get his parents’ permission first,” he said.
“He trained very, very hard, he was one of the kids you never had to shout at, he was very focused. He wanted to be a good boxer and he was getting good, he was progressing well. He won a few novice titles [he won the Dublin Novice championships at age 16] and boxed on plenty of shows to learn his trade
the only way this fight is close is if mayweather carries conor through so they can have a rematch $$$$
vegas says it's not going the distance, though. conor is going to be embarrassed
$40 seems rather steep, plus you probably can't drink there. You don't have to go for all 4 hours, though

I'm with you. I think it'd be great if McGregor finds a way to humiliate Mayweather, but Mayweather has proven that he knows how to win fights, so I don't know.I see it going the distance, just like most of Lameweathers fights. Of course I want Conor to knock him the fvck out and break his perfect record. One can dream.

it wouldn't be shocking, but odds say not
over 11.5 +150
under 11.5 -210
that was the first site I checked, I think I saw an article recently saying that the odds were still favoring the under @ 8.5 rounds
we keep talking about conor's puncher's chance but remember he has to defend himself too.

even odds for floyd by tko vs ko, both +300. by unanimous decision is +225
The way McGregor fights in the octagon isn't that dissimilar to boxing. In fact, boxing is his main skill.

He has a chance in the sense he'll be in the ring with him, just like if I went into a bar and saw Halle Berry I'd technically have a chance of taking her home. He has no chance here. I'll put it to you like this, even at 40 and a year plus layoff there still isn't an actual boxer that could beat him, let alone an MMA fighter who's scared to defend his belts in his own sport.
He has 28 knock outs. When he moved up in weight class his KO's went drastically down, but he also was fighting a lot of dudes who nobody has KO'ed, even since fighting him. Look at his last 15 opponents and how many times they've been KO'd total.
there still isn't an actual boxer that could beat him
GGG is going to be lucky to get past Canelo, who Floyd crushed.GGG would crush Floyd and Floyd knows it
Everyone says this, but for a guy who everyone bitches about him being defensive as fuck, he has over a 50% knockout rate. Is he that significantly lower than other lighweights? I doubt it's staggering even if it is.Lameweather has 26 KO's, unless maybe you count women.
