Lance is probably not the safest bet there. He is a good father, somewhat, but he has too many hangups and things about his character that make him hard to be compatible with: it is what makes him a great athlete though.

Oh I don't know any of the details but I do know this: If she fucked it up she wouldn't jump ship AFTER he got cancer. Also, if it was her issues he sure as hell should have stuck with her seeing as what she did for him.

Therefore, he fucked it up and is as I described above. There is no other logical explanation.
