No? You know the future? Do you know what has happened to people who have been catapulted into the media spotlight for controversial reasons? Do you think Lien wants this publicity? Do you think, if he could do things over again, he wouldn't let the bikers have their moment of fun and move on so he too can move on with his life?

Do YOU know the future? No? Didn't think so.

Do YOU know the future? No? Didn't think so.

I know history. And I am sure that Lien's family has gotten negative communications in addition to the positive ones that dominate this story. But it's the negatives that he has to worry about because some people will throw down without thinking.

Don't know why the vast majority don't get this. Most people cannot be this stupid. Just because you have the right to do something does not mean you should do it. This is common sense and a simple survival tactic. Just because you can go into a bad neighborhood does not mean you should. You should avoid trouble. This is infinitely more so if you're carrying heavy baggage (family). If you're by yourself and feel like being a dick, have at it. With your family? You have to take extra caution. When I'm driving by myself I drive my car like I stole it. Like a bat out of hell. With my wife and son? Like a 90 year old great grandmother. If clowns want to showboat, let them. The confrontation with your family RIGHT THERE is simply not worth it. Any head of the household should know this.

You may have the law on your side but the law is there for 2 reasons, to threaten and to enforce that threat. It cannot prevent those intent on harming you. So why invite problems when they can be so easily avoided or mitigated?

It's easy to make armchair accusations. Until you're in the situation yourself, you can't say for sure how you would react. That's why the "vast majority" sympathize with the SUV driver, but most people don't operate illegal vehicles while trolling highways intimidating people. Instead, maybe go out for Sunday drives. It's about perspective.

Try reading the thread. This is not hindsight. It's my experience. I said I've been in situations like this several times after ethnic parades (Puerto Rican, Dominican, West Indian). Once you start talking to people things settle down. They may vent and curse you out but it's better than the alternatives. If you continue to be hostile or appear detached things can quickly get out of hand because it'll fuel the anger.

After Lien rear-ended the bike someone was trying to talk to him but his window was still up. He obviously panicked and was petrified. That's a terrible position to be in when the life of your family is in your hand. As the man of the house he should've been smarter.

Some people need to WAKE UP and pay attention while driving.

Finally these two are getting it. Dumbass inattentive motorcyclists. How the fuck do you miss a big black Range Rover?

If you're able to blindly think this guy did absolutely nothing wrong then you need to sign up for some driver's training classes.

I know, if you can't drive a motorcycle any better than that then get off the fucking road.

It doesn't justify what the bikers did, but it is what sparked the altercation.

Yes, total agreement, them swerving in front of the car is what caused the whole mess in the first place.

Finally he gets it. Bikers learned this lesson the hard way.

Something tells me the bikers have always been like this and nothing will change. The Lien family, however, will be traumatized for a very long time. I'm not a biker so I don't understand their world. However, I understand Lien and that is why I don't understand why he would subject his family to all this noise and nonsense.

His new journey will be extremely exhaustive and filled with pitfalls. Life will never be normal again.

Yeah. Did he wake out of the coma yet? He'll probably end up paralyzed or something. Sucks for him, but he should've been more aware while out on his bike. I think someone pointed out before there were several others on their bikes that got out of the way.

It'd be tough being stuck in a wheelchair, but I'm sure a fine upstanding citizen like him will have no trouble, he clearly has the love and support of his family.

Are you too stuck in your ways to understand what he's saying? It's extremely simple: Be aware, alert and think before you act.

Could not have said it better. He only had like 20 opportunities to get out of harm's way, but instead he just stood there and got run over.

Mieses life is over afaik. Lien's life is the one that is filled with many unknowns.

Oh, I've read the thread. My point remains unchanged.

On the topic of not reading the thread. This is a good clip from earlier in the thread having to do with what type of person you are.

Poisoning a pregnant woman is ok, but you white knight for a guy who attacks a man trying to protect his wife and child.

IOW, you're a 100% d-bag. Maybe that's why you defend the bikers so vehemently, because they're 100% d-bag's also. It's all about perspective.

The old saying 'Never argue with an idiot...they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience' comes to mind when reading this thread.

I don't know of anyone in this thread who is blaming the SUV driver for everything that happened. Those that are critical of him are saying that he should've been smarter in his decision-makings. EVERYONE here knows that bikers were mostly at fault but there are things the SUV driver could've done to mitigate, or avoid altogether, the various critical points in this story. And why would I lambast him? Because he's driving the more powerful vehicle and he has his ENTIRE family in the fucking car. In a situation like that, you have to be extremely alert. You cannot over-rely on the power-advantage of that vehicle because, eventually, you will have to come out.

These are subtle points that the vast majority simply cannot comprehend.

I think they can. The problem is, under these circumstances it's just kind of a faux pas to put any degree of focus on anything the driver should have done differently in our opinions, because while I agree (as I would & have done differently myself), whatever the driver's mistakes, they were infinitesimal compared to the sum of all the gang's negligent/aggressive/criminal actions.

That's why you're just not going to get anyone to acknowledge anything the driver did wrong, and I don't have a huge problem with that in these circumstances.

Gotta pick your battles man, & this one isn't worth it.

Gee, maybe he was driving home and didn't know about the throng of biker-thugs that would be on that highway that particular day?. Because a numbskull pulled in front of him and brake-checked him there was a minor accident, he pulled over as he was supposed to, you keep ranting about "talking it out" with these thugs, THEY WERE SLASHING HIS TIRES AND DAMAGING HIS VEHICLE, WTF was he gonna say to make them act like normal people, sensing (and obviously so) fear for his and his family's safety he fled, what makes this so hard for you to understand?.

No I am trying to understand why he hates the SUV driver so much when the VIDEO CLEARLY shows its the bikers fault. Hey Dari and SA.....you guys where there huh? In NYC when this happened, I feel like you where there because of all the things you say like you where actually there

He's a fucking bone-head and that's an insult to bone-head's. Yea, while they're ripping of his mirrors, screaming threats, and slashing tires you can "reason" with them, I'm amazed he actually stopped at all in the first place, I don't think I would have..

He's not dead literally, Einstein. But he is figuratively.

They were not infinitesimal, just understandable. And people here may not acknowledge what I am saying overtly but they should at least internalize it. If the bikers had been successful in getting into Lien's car at the light on the highway it could've been extremely tragic because he could've overreacted again. That area of manhattan is extremely hilly and the fall is steep. With your family in the car, it's better to just avoid these incidents and escalations. That's all I'm saying.

As far as battles are concerned, this is infinitesimal to me. I come here to read opinions and advice. Not really here to make friends and I'm not the type to back down. Anyone here willing to repeat Lien's mistakes will end up with the same outcome or worse.

You are too focused on your own narrative. That is not what happened at all. The biker that brake-checked him tried to get his attention at first before the brake-check. After that failed he then brake-checked. From where the camera was I did not see anyone slashing his tire and, unless you were there, you didn't either.

No I am trying to understand why he hates the SUV driver so much when the VIDEO CLEARLY shows its the bikers fault. Hey Dari and SA.....you guys where there huh? In NYC when this happened, I feel like you where there because of all the things you say like you where actually there

I was not there but there is no hate. I'm starting to think many of the people here are fucking morons. Your narratives are extreme instead of impartial. You reek of bias.

He's a fucking bone-head and that's an insult to bone-head's. Yea, while they're ripping of his mirrors, screaming threats, and slashing tires you can "reason" with them, I'm amazed he actually stopped at all in the first place, I don't think I would have..

Ah, I see why you feel so passionate about this now. You're a coward who is easily intimidated by words and cosmetic injury to your vehicle. If you're that thin-skinned then you should not venture out.

If by "others" you mean watch the video, and read the new articles. Then yes, I read what others say. How much my opinion is swayed by them is debatable.

His life as he knew it is over. His life continues. Maybe he can take this experience and put it towards something good now.

Wow, you still think you can see the future. The way you type that, it's like you've threatened people before. You fit in perfect with a crotch rocket biker gang. congrats.

Go ahead, keep posting IDK if it's possible to look any stupider but your trying. "Cosmetic injury" would describe a dent in a Wal-mart parking lot, NOT A THRONG OF BIKERS TRYING TO DESTROY YOUR VEHICLE..also it was noted in the police report that they slashed the tires, I didn't need to be there. The only reason to brake-check him was they were upset he had the audacity to be driving on the same highway the were using as their "rally", do you really think someone with a wife and a 2yr old want's to cause trouble with 200+ bikers?, think about it if possible..
