I am not an internet tough guy but protecting my family comes above all else. Escape perhaps was the wrong solution to the thugs by Lien and a little interference in their gang up tactics would have helped him more. Not always is there safety in numbers. I agree totally that Lien will prevail and hope these guys get the max.
Bro, do you even lift?

Yes, protecting your family comes above all else.

Escape coupled with pro active motorcycle swipe was perhaps a better solution to the thugs. A little interference in their gang up tactics would have helped him more...

What you call a "pro active motorcycle swipe" and "a little interference" is, in fact, vigilante justice. Many here in OT fervently support that. The state of New York does not.

If the evidence showed intent on your part, and your response was found disproportionate to the perceived threat, you would leave yourself open to either a manslaughter charge or possibly worse, involving depraved indifference." Possible jail time and/or a permanent felony record?

That would not be protecting your family above all else.

Even if you were found not guilty, the time, agony, and expense of mounting a defense would disrupt the lives of you and your family tremendously.

That would not be protecting your family above all else.

As you likely know, being found liable in a civil suit only requires the lower standard of the preponderance of evidence and not "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Being bankrupted and branded by losing a civil suit?

That would not be protecting your family above all else.

And finally, you must consider the extra-legal consequences. Intentionally causing major damage and maybe even death? You would be a marked man for life amongst this band of low-impulse felons and any other additional crazy who wanted to see their name in the papers. Everyone would know where you and your family lives.

That would not be protecting your family above all else.

We do what we gonna do.

You're an educated adult with a family. Think harder, do better. Else:

That would not be protecting your family above all else.

I agree totally that Lien will prevail and hope these guys get the max.

Well agreed!

"I don't know what happened Officer. I was trying to get away from them. They swarmed me - lots was going on - juggling the wheel to get away from them as they were ganging up and threatening my 2 year old and wife - not sure how my RR came in contact with a motorcycle but THEY choose to get so close to my car". I doubt Lien would even be charged. He is not charged now while a few of the bikers including a cop are on bail.
And it is not vigilante justice but escaping a hoard of thugs.
By the Grace of G-d we have a video of the entire event, not only recorded by one of the thugs but posted on the internet. Yep, there they are swarming my wife and child while I was trying to escape them. Oh, they ran into the car. Well, when it is a car and motorcycles, things happen.

I had been in a situation like Lien before. Well, being swarmed by a crap load of bikers. I simply put on my hazard lights and SLOWED my speed to a degree where I could reasonably control the vehicle. Eventually, the bikers swarmed past me and I was on my way again.

Yes, break checking is wrong and I feel that Mr. Lien was still driving too "fast" for my liking.

Now, did something happen before the break checking incident that NO MATTER how cautious or slow Mr. Lien was driving that the bikers were hell sent on kicking some Asian ass? hmmmmmm............????

I would be interested to know if the gang knew they had cop members. Might explain a lot - they thought they were above the law by association.

Little known fact, avid violent video gamer A. lien's violent tendencies toward the motorcycle enthusiasts were reenacted countless times from his hours spent on Organ Trails.

I personally think its very stupid of the MOB to video record all this and think its there evidence that it was liens fault. IGNORANT is a word stupid people don't understand

It's smart to always have a camera running while you ride because dead men tell no tales. It's not smart to release incriminating footage.

Mob Mentality will always lose VS a family of 3.

Very false.

lien's inattentive, terrible driving very nearly got himself and his family killed or hurt. He is VERY lucky that a bystander was able to stop this group from doing more damage. Sure, the bikers would've been convicted of murder, but what will that help when him and his family are dead or crippled?

If there's a lesson to be learned about this, it's to be more aware of your surroundings. Don't tailgate, don't be the 'tough guy', or you could end up dragged out of your car and beaten to death.

Some people need to WAKE UP and pay attention while driving. If you are able to blindly support lien, perhaps you also need to take a look at your own driving and spatial awareness.

This scenario played out as best it could for lien, simply due to dumb luck.

It's not legally lien's fault, and it's not completely morally lien's fault, but if he wasn't a mouth breathing cloudy eye then he would not have rear ended that biker.

Lien had plenty of room to stop, and with all that was going on he should've given more room to the bikers. He either wasn't paying attention, or he intentionally rear ended the biker.

I hope everyone is smart enough to not respond to this BS anymore.

Edit: Well, he got two after all.

I'm sure it is easier than acknowledging lien's mistakes. Too many of you seem to be able to easily associate yourself with lien's position.

If you're able to blindly think this guy did absolutely nothing wrong then you need to sign up for some driver's training classes.

Nobody said Lien didn't do something wrong. Most of us are in agreement he did. He failed to use reverse and run more people over. That was his main mistake.

My problem isn't with what he did after the bikers started attacking the car.

The issue is that lien's inattentive driving was the impetus for the entire interaction. It doesn't justify what the bikers did, but it is what sparked the altercation.
