Lappy Repair Help

Hope you guys can help with this kind of odd issue...here goes!

My oldest daughter is in D.C. at school. Her Dell D600 has a broken left hinge on the LCD. I have a replacement here in Tennessee ( I replaced the right one previous). What I need is recommendations on a shop where she can take her lappy AND the replacement hinge and have it installed. Anyone know of a trustworthy laptop repair shop in the Wash D.C. area??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It'd be cheaper if she mailed it to you and you mailed it back.

Maybe.
She is in Grad school doing papers all the time PLUS working an internship PLUS organizing off-campus networking events. Her Lappy gets a real workout (plug for Latitudes). We would need ultra-quick shipping both ways to minimize downtime.
Good thought but I had already considered and decided this was a last resort.

you send it to a shop it would take time to repair too. sometimes those guys arent very fast

How about duct tape until she gets a break? 1 hinge should be able to hold the lid up, and duct tape will give it a bit of stability. A little ghetto, but it looks like you mean business. no pussified fashion accessory for your daughter :^D

I find this thread a little humorous/spooky. We have a 2002 vintage BestBuy VPR Matrix 170B4 that also just had a hinge break and I wondered if it was common.

I propped up the display and told the wife to live with it a few more days. It deserves a proper burial after all these years and countless trips around the world.

A much lighter weight Samsung X460-44G replacement is on order from the Egg.

Duct tape is how I would fix it twas it mine. She will just use it until the other hinge breaks and the screen falls off. Treats her car the same way.

This lappy probably does deserve to be put out of it's misery, it has been a real workhorse. Bought it slightly used in fall of 2004. Survived 3 years at Ole Miss with a side trip to Argentina for a year and a summer in Bogota. Rides around in a beatup Lands End backpack alongside books, shoes, pencils, and anything else that happens to need toting. Had to replace the hard drive a couple of years ago but needed more space anyway.

God...I hope I haven't jinked us by crowing about it.

I tried contacting the IT dept. at her Grad school. They would repair it IF it was still under warranty. Otherwise they suggested the Geek Squad :Q. I may investigate the quick mail option a bit more. I DO have a Dell shipping box around here somewhere.
