Laptop backlight problem (LIGHT OR INVERTER?)

Hello folks, alright here is the situation.

I have an Acer extensa 4420 laptop, it worked fine for a few months, suddenly several times a day the backlight will go off.

I can press FN + F6(Backlight function) it would suddenly flash on then go off again.

Here is the mistery, when on battery power it NEVER happens.

ONLY when on AC power (few times a day).


Before going and purchasing an inverter board I would like some confirmation if this is the correct symptom of a bad inverter board.

This is a good diagnostic flow chart. To test the inverter you need test equipment for that purpose.
