8 lbs is too much for me and this is the reason holding me from buying the 8600. Don't know whatz up with all the laptop anything below 6 lbs don't have a gaming video card in it. Did anyone check out the new Compaq x2000? The laptop itself looks very good but again the video card sucked. The 700m is nice price too but share video mem.....intel xtreme graphic 2......no thanks.

thanks for the heads up about the deal! i have 2 questions:

(1) is there any difference between the inspiron 600m and the latitude d600 (chipset, case, etc.)?

(2) is there a sweet spot in terms of price/performance for the centrino processors for the inspiron 600m (i.e. - 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0)? just wondering which if any of the speed steps are worth the price over the 1.5.

thanks in advance for any advice you guys/gals may have!

its heavy when you have to lug it around all day. On any given day I have class, I have to meet with 4 different people in different parts of the building to arrange or work on projects. I also have to carry around my books and documents. The weight adds up.
