Laptop died. No power. Any thoughts?

Hi guys,

My trusty ol' Sony Vaio FW190 bit the dust. Worked fine one day, dead the next.

It appears that there's no power. Lights that indicate power or charging (or anything) don't light up. I've tried a different/spare battery, but nothing. I tried it without any battery at all (just plugged in) but still nothing. The little green light on the power adapter does light up, so I don't think that's the problem either.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?

Have you tried this?:

1. Disconnect both battery and power supply.
2. Hold power button down for 30 seconds then release.
3. Reconnect both battery and power supply.
4. Hold power button down for 30 seconds then release.
5. Wait 60 seconds.
6. Press power button.

Yeah, and Sony doesn't have sh*t on their website; a crappy owners manual that looks like it was written for a 10 year old, and no sign of a proper service manual at all. Might be worth it to you to have a good local shop throw a multimeter on it and test for broken/unsoldered battery and power button connectors, before springing for a new or good used mobo.
