Laptop Harddrive Connect to Desktop???

Is it possible to connect a laptop hard drive to a desktop via serial port or
some other way? If so, if the laptop hard drive is NTFS, will a Win98 box be
able to see it? A couple days ago, after restarting the laptop, it gave a
message that the boot.ini file was invalid, but was still able to boot fine.
Now it won't go into Win2K most likely due to the boot.ini.

Serial port = no. But they do make adapters to connect via USB or IDE.

You can get an adaptor which connects a Desktop IDE cable to a 2.5&quot; HDD which includes a power cable. They are available from most electronic outlets for a few pounds (or dollars).

NTFS partitons can only be seen with NT4 or W2K.

PS you might need a small jumper so the drive can been seen in the BIOS.

Can your laptop boot from a CD? Put your Win2k disk in the drive, start the setup process, and choose repair. That'll fix the boot.ini.

Edit: I just checked the original date of this post. I assume by now you've already solved it somehow. What did you end up doing?
