Laptop Harddrive to Desktop Adaptor

Hey guys,
I bought a hard drive adaptor 44pin to 40pin ide to save my friends files to my computer - due to him not being able to boot to windows. I have a question though, when i plug in the laptop harddrive and boot, my master hd wont detect. any reasons why this may happen?

My guess is that you have your desktop HD and laptop HD both configured as master. Try configuring the laptop as slave, or move it to its own channel.

yea i was in a rush and i didnt realize it was set at master, now i have a chance to work with it more so ill try that. thanks for the suggestion. hehe i wish i could get a firewire enclosure - but im on a limited budget as he is paying me back for what i buy...so i think ill stick with the 7 dollar adaptor!
