Got a quick question about my laptops HDD. Its a brand new laptop (about 3 weeks old), with a 250 gig 5400 rpm HDD. When the computer is idle, or doing low stress tasks (like word processing or web browsing), the hard drive will randomly make some clicky noises every now and then, which sounds to me kinda like its trying to access data really quick, but the noise is not the same as the normal hard drive loading noise. Someone on another forum described it as the sound of "parking and un-parking it's head every 10-20 seconds." I'm running Vista on the computer, a few suggestions people said were that it was drive indexing, or vista's quick search feature, another person suggested running some notebook hardware control program. I just wanted to get the two cents from other people, see if anyone else had this sound on their comps. Before I got my current system, I had a dell which also had a 250 gig HDD, and it also made the same type of noise (so it leads me to believe that its not a bad drive, since having 2 would be unlikely). So any ideas?
