Hi there,

I am having random incorrect inputs into firefox, and it seems like it`s only firefox.

It`s usually the same keys,

EG:
`was me hitting the other symbol beside enter
É was me hitting question mark
/ was me hitting number sign
^^ was me hitting left square bracket
¸¸ was me hitting right square bracket
' was me hitting left arrow

Any ideasÉ '--- grrrrrrrrrrr that was epic fail, went to point at the failed question mark and then my keyboard failed the left arrow...

Happens consistently, too..

Tried that, no go.

Which drivers in peticular should I be reloading just in case I am missing it?

Keep in mind, this only happens in Firefox and MSN messenger, the only two I notice it in anyway. If I need to type a ? I just copy and paste it from notepad or something...

This is happening to me on my Vista box as well...I've noticed it starts acting up after I've had the machine running for extended periods of time (8+ hours), but it's really kind of random. When it does start acting up, it occurs in all my programs that rely on keyboard input - Photoshop keyboard shortcuts go haywire, my gaming binds go to crap, and random symbols start appearing in place of question marks and other puncutation. It's easily solved with a restart, but ugh.

Running a generic USB keyboard...I don't suspect a driver issue at all. Perhaps just a random glitch or something...

Vinceisg0d, if you come up with anything, be sure to post your findings.

Will do.

As a side note I am using my laptops keyboard, not anything else.

Also, the keys it changes to are consistent. EG

forward slash is always é
Question mark is always É
Square bracket left is always ^^, and i have to hit it twice for it to put it in..one time does nothing, two does two.Same with RSB and ¸¸

I've seen this allot. Many people have this same issue. I know many people in WoW that get the probelm after the system has been running for a while. Seams to be a Vista glitch of some sort. As of now there is no known fix other then turning the system off for a bit.

OP, I have the exact same problem with my work computer (Win XP SP3). It is not a glitch; it is a language setting. Your keyboard is probably set to either Canadian Multilingual Standard or English (Canada), so it is using French inputs.

To fix the problem on XP (sorry, I don't know where this is located in Vista):

In the Control Panel, open Regional and Language Settings.
Click the Languages tab.
Under Text services and input languages, click Details.
Under Default Input Language, set it to English (United States) - US.
Under Installed Services, remove any Canada-related keyboard settings.
Click Apply, then click OK.

Edit: There is also a Hotkey setting which switches between languages.

In the same Text Services and Input Languages dialog, click Key Settings.
Click Change Key Sequence, then unselect the Switch input languages and Switch keyboard layouts checkboxes.

This will prevent you from accidentally switching keyboard inputs if you press CTRL + Shift or L Alt + Shift.

Nice! I had English (Canada) selected for all of my language options...changed them all to United States and am awaiting to see the results.

Oh yeah...in Vista, the Regional and Language Options icon is also in the Control Panel, however, the tabs and options are laid out a little differently. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out what's going on regardless.

Thanks again...I never would have suspected that.
