for some reason (just recently) any game i play in full screen has a big black border as if i want to play in a small screen mode. i tried changing the rez but it seems to be a deeper problem. im using xp pro.
this is driving me nuts and any help would be great.

the boot screen now does the same thing... this is weirding me out. if i put some games in the native rez of the screen it works fine but 1440x900 is too much for some games.

IIRC the e1405 has the GMA950 for video, and it takes away memory from your system. So if you have 1024MB of system memory, your integrated graphics will suck up between 64-256MB, don't know the fixed amount but somewhere in that range. What game are you trying to play with that laptop?

hmm...I don't now much, but I have had a similar problem on my desktop, the BSOD. It turned out to be a memory problem, and I RMA'd the stick of ram back to Newegg. They replaced it, and everything is going fine.

How new/old is your laptop? I'm running a similar config on my E1505, except I have the upgraded video card. No prob's running anything on my laptop. Hope this gets resolved soon!

seems like the memory is overheating sometimes. i get the blue screen at different instances like normal laptop use and shutting down. should i just replace the memory?

Your BIOS should have an option to enable expand view when you run it under lower than default resolution. Once you change the option, things should get back to full screen.

the resolution isnt the problem anymore, its the blue screen. which is apparantly a memory issue.

If you think it's the memory try running Memtest86 for several hours on it. You can get it at http://www.memtest86.com/

Your screenshot says tcpip.sys was the cause of that crash, is it always tcpip.sys?

Have you checked your temps and maybe try an orthos overnight test?

Just look up orthos or sp2004 in google u'll find a the dl.

like some1 said earlier maybe try reinstalling windows.

Also even though your memory is ok it's possible that some program has a memory leak causing u 2 do a memory dump for the blue screen.

Maybe try using ctrl+alt+del and in the processes tab check it ever 5 min or so to see if there's a program that's slowly eating away all your memory.
