I dont know how to start to troubleshoot this because it is so random.
I have a cheapy laptop that i only use for video consumption on a TV.
Its a 2nd gen i3-2370M, 4gb ram , 500gb SSD Samsung. Running on Win7 pro. I've used this laptop for 2 years watching video connected to HDMI cable to the TV with no issues.
Programs used... normally VLC player and media center player.
When i'm watching a video, it would just randomly freeze up. Everytime it freezes up, i would either let it sit there and then BSOD will pop up or i would just power cycle the laptop. If it does freeze up, it would freeze up maybe 3 times at different points of the video. I would watch the same video a week later and no freezes. There are days where its flawless and then there are days where it would freeze up 5 times on like different videos. With that logic, i find it hard to believe its software related.
I've ran the samsung OE scans and SSD is reading good. The laptop is solely used for this and surfing. I think my SSD is going out.. but how would i be able to test this.
I'm tempted to go out and grab another cheap laptop but if i throw this HD in there i might have the same problem if its HD related.
