kinda a lame question, but i couldnt easily find the answer. i got a good deal on a used compaq armada 7730mt. nothing fancy, but fits my needs perfectly. my question is this, the clock displayed in the corner does not keep time. it goes back to 12:00pm every time i restart. i know this can be a problem with cmos batteries in desktop PCs that run down or go bad, is the same true for laptops? do i need a new cmos battery or is this normal?

while i'm here, how should i go about removing the Novell network stuff off this system? there is nothing in the remove/uninstall and and no obvious uninstall.exes. when i deleted the related files it had trouble restarting so i restored them, but then have to click through the novell login every time i restart.

thanks for any information

thanks for the reply, i have tried compaq's site, unfortunately its like a technical bowl of spaghetti over there .
i couldn't find anything specific on that issue, thats why i hoped someone here would have some quick answers.

I work on Compaq Armadas, yes they do use a cmos battery to store the time, date... and other info same as the desktop pcs, and thus need to be replaced. You either need to get a new battery or maybe check the connection from the cmos battery in the laptop and make sure that its plugged into the system board of the laptop. Unless you feel comfortable taking about laptops or computers, i suggest that you not do it yourself.

Go into network properties (control panel==>network), take a look at the network settings and delete anything you don't need. FYI, you will need a Windows CD if the CAB files aren't on the hard drive.
