I have an Averatec 3200 series with 512mb RAM, but 32mb of that RAM is actually allocated to video. If I upgrade to 1Gb, would that also increase the amount of RAM allocated to video (or is that a fixed 32mb)?
There should be one, but depending on your video card there might not be; all depends on the make of the integrated graphics. Also if its a newer version of Intel's integrated crap, it might share the memory dynamically but it doesn't sound like that's the case since it uses 32MB even in 2D.
I know some video cards scale the amount of memory used when you have a certain amount of memory. Don't know about your notebook though. Check your manual or the the bios.
