Laptop won't turn on

I've been given a Sony VAIO that won't turn on. I've tested the AC adapter and the MB with my multimeter and there doesn't seem to be a problem with juice. Any sugestions as to what I might check next to see why it won't turn on?

Have you check the on/off switch? What about the CPU? Is it properly installed? Any LED Power indication on?

Reseat the RAM, unplug the power supply, plug the laptop in, and then try it.

You may have the same problem I had with mine, basically the solder joint for the power connector on the motherboard broke and was not contacting the trace on the motherboard.

This involves complete disassembly of the laptop, which is not too hard. And then resolder the 3 pin power connector.

When you unplug the laptop, also take the battery out, hopefully to completely reset the system if some inadvertent setting is preventing the laptop from powering up.

Right now I don't have the battery in, just trying to get it to turn on from the AC (doesn't work with the battery in, either). I thought that might be the problem, gimp, so I checked some resistors on various parts of the board and they're all showing a charge. I did check the ram, I looked at the power button and it appears to be functionable, but I haven't checked the CPU, will try that next. With it plugged in there is no LED action, which is what prompted me to test for power across the board. I'm thinking maybe there's just one circuit broken on the MB somewhere, but hoping maybe it's something else, thus the reason I'm asking for suggestions

when the batterys in, plug the AC, see if theres a Charging led----

Nope, don't get LED activity no matter what I do.
