Now there are two ads that load in each section of the forum pages. The top, bottom, and side load one ad and then a few seconds later switch to another. That's one way to double ad revenue. Horrible.

I was just coming in here to report that. Page loads with small ad space at top, jumps to large ad space, large ad loads, large ad disappears, ad space jumps to small and small ad loads. Sigh.

I can't reproduce that, but I've put in a query to Ad Ops to see if we are actually doing that.

Everyone,
That was not supposed to be happening, and it was fixed this morning. Sorry about that.

Is this ever going to get fixed? Google, Intel and Mountain Dew have been causing my screen to bounce all over the place the last 10 minutes.

When I rarely view this forum, through Tapatalk, I don't get this ad. This forum, and many other sites I used to white list on my ad blockers, but it seems like the ads got overly aggressive to compensate for those blocking them. Much easier to join the masses than try to support them by viewing obnoxious, poorly formatted ads.

I never actually used ad blockers until Purch bought the site but because I mess around with PC's so much sometimes I pass by on a machine without an ad blocker installed.

I've decided I'm not going to report the bad adverts anymore. This particular problem has been going on for months now so I'm pretty certain while they will tell us they're trying to improve it, actions speak louder than words.

I just checked the main page without an ad blocker and that too still looks terrible with the actual content making up probably 25%, if that, of the space on the screen. This was also reported months ago.

It could be worse. Look at what they did with the Tom's Hardware forums. It has been monetized to hell.

I see what you mean.

That forum too has the top loading ad which can't decide how tall it wants to be and causes the forum to jump around.

So, this is back with the new forum layout. It seems it's a large banner at the top 100% of the time now? Actually, with the 200+ times I've loaded a page I've only seen one ad actually load there in any of the browsers I've tried. But with each page load, it starts with a tiny ~18px high space, then 2 seconds later that space becomes ~100px, then a second later it balloons to ~300px high.

The site jumping is bad I have to say. Really bad now.

Tom's just looks like a typical shady site now, avoiding now since that last batch to changes.

This is incredibly annoying on mobile (tablets) because the ads load so slowly it messes up your selection. Would be better if that space was a set size.

Also the side ad sometimes gets in the way of threads if you try to zoom or resize the page. Occasionally switching to landscape mode can right it, but also annoying.
