The one attached to the M-16 is the M-203 40mm grenade launcher.
The independent one is the M-79 40mm grenade laucher. Wooden stock. Vietnam era.

A 7 ton delivery truck. Didn't have much in the way of muzzle velocity, but the energy was extremely high (once pegged it out at 80 mph)

I forgot to mention my grandfather's 10 gauge shotgun. I was a skinny 13 year old; that thing put me down hard.

I've fired a "24 pounder" naval cannon. The bore was about 8 1/2 inches. Old technology rocks!
Magnus has me on diameter, but I'm sure those 203 rounds weighed a bit more than 24 pounds.

edit: small arms, .45 Long Colt (pistol) and .45-70 (rifle).

i got to shoot a converted handgun with that 45-70 round. holy crap that was a kicker. that and a 50 cal are probably the largest ive shot.

.45-70 is a fairly stout round in a rifle. It would take a very heavy frame to make it manageable in a pistol.

the guy that made it made a barrel break (what he called it) to keep it more level (and not snap your wrist, he said) when firing it. i was a brash 17 yr old, he thought it was funny. he also loaded his 44mags with 400gr from what i hear. he was a bit on the eccentric side. overall, it was a pistol but was fairly long. and strapped to my elbow, it didnt float up too much. this guy had a small house built next to his main ranch house to keep all his guns and reloading/ ammo in. he was a serious tinkerer.
