This isn't FS/FT, so I am going to break the rules. That's an expensive price for that hardware.

It's huge and can be a bit cumbersome to navigate after a long night of gambling and drinking. I prefer Treasure Island myself.

great place, kinda pricey but if you have a good deal probably still one of the best places on the strip.

I would never stay at the MGM. If you self park, the parking is a long walk back. The hotel is huge, meaning everywhere you go it's a trek. If you want to leave, you gotta walk through the place to finally get out. Vegas is not so much about the name of the place you stay, but how easy it is to leave the place you are staying to see the sights and experience the trip. For my money, MGM is not even a consideration.

that's pretty much the same for all hotels along the strip. They want to maximize your exposure to gambling devices and take your money..

meanwhile, back to OP's question, MGM is kinda a let down, it looks magnificent on the outside, but their rooms are so-so (which is just the same with Luxor). If I can find both under $150 then I will consider; otherwise, I rather save a few bucks and live off strip.

I liked it. Walking is good exercise. restaurants are ok. the strip is too crowded for my taste and it had a not too busy nor too dead floor at pretty much all times.

luxor is somewhere i would never go back to. stop[ing by is cool but the buffet is so-so and the casino suxored.

MGM is good if you want the overwhelming Vegas experience.

I don't gamble there but the rooms are nice. Feels very "touristy" but then again you are on the strip.

Giant. Old style of Vegas hotels. Fairly "cheap" compared to the newer hotels, but nothing special either. For the money something like Mandalay Bay is better....

MGM is HUUGGGEEEE. Made a mistake of parking in the MGM parking lot and the walk to casino floor/other exhibits (white lion) was LOONNNGGGG. I dont remember correctly but I think that it was a ~20+ min walk each way. (I am talking ~7yrs back).

I stayed there for 5 days about a year and a half ago and really loved it. The hotel is really cool on the inside and the amenities were really nice. I would highly recommend it.

We stayed at a cheaper place (stratosphere) and used the duece bus to get anywhere we want.

It's also got the monorail real close by. I've been to Vegas quite a few times and everytime stayed someplace different and found that pretty much every hotel room is the same. Besides they all owned by like 3 big companies.

And everything in Vegas in big no matter where you stay you will be getting your fill of walking. I would look the attractions the hotels offer and decide if you want to do any of them because you will most likely get a deal on the attractions if you stay at that hotel or hotel owned by the larger conglomerate.

MGM is nice. Wynn is awesome, they got an lcd tv in the bathroom so you can watch tv while soaking in your hot tub. Imperial Palace sucks, Tropicana sucks.

I've only been to vegas once, I stayed at the excaliber. It was clearly older and more run down then some of the other places, but we just walked around everywhere so it didn't matter as it was cheaper. We went to the "eat and watch a knight and horse show" thing and I loved it though.

I want to go again this year to see the star trek convention, maybe a trip to the grand canyon and another one of the circ de sole shows. (We went to the one where half the chicks were topless, zumanity I think, it was pretty cool.)

Zumanity is correct. Out of all of the cirque de soleil shows, I have actually heard that it is the worst. When compared to the others, that is. Good things about Mystique (sp?), and O. But, being a cirque de soleil show, it obviously can't be bad.

I have never stayed at the MGM, but I have been many a time to hang out (I live in Vegas). I can tell you that anywhere you want to go in the casino, it is a trek, which has been stated already.

MGM is pretty nice, but massive. I stayed there last November and remember the long walk from the self parking lot to the hotel elevators all while carrying a 24 pack of beer in my bag, along with my clothes. That was a treacherous walk. In addition, their casino floor is huge, which can be a pain to find your friends if they are all playing at different tables.
The casino dealers are hella cool at the non-smoking tables near Studio 54. I scored 2 free buffets by playing roulette there for an hour and carrying a good conversation with the dealer.

It was OK. I stayed there for 1 night on the way back from a business trip. I was only in the room for a matter of 4 hours to catch a little sleep before my 8am flight. I was out on the town till like 3:30am.

The room was VERY average, nothing special. It was a queen room with a slight view of the strip. It was under government per diem, so price didn't matter.
