LAS VEGAS'S HOTEL DEAL

To me, this is a great deal, but you guys always find some better deal! If you have a better deal, please share![\b]
All the ads quote rates for Sunday thru Thursday occupancy. All say "subject to availability" and specify that convention periods, weekends, holidays, etc. may be higher. . Also, the given price is PER ROOM (not per person) based on 1 or 2 adults sharing a room. (Many ads state that an "adult" means 21 years of age and older. If you are under 21, check with the hotel to see if you are eligible for the quoted rates.) And, of course, you must add tax to all the rates.

You do NOT have to live in the Los Angeles area to take advantage of these deals. When you call for a room reservation, simply tell the reservationist that you want the rate quoted in the Calendar section of the Sunday Los Angeles Times. You can be calling from anywhere in the world...

I did the New York New York "I COAST" deal a couple weeks ago and was very happy with the accomidations. I thought it was a good deal especially considering the jacuzzi bathtub in the room...hehe

Nice compilation.

Keep in mind, before grabbing one of these deals, that some of these hotels are pretty skanky.

I photographed a wedding a coupla months ago, and the wedding party stayed at Castaways. Luckily, I stayed at the Hard Rock (I can recommend this hotel with complete enthusiasm.) Castaways is waaaaaaaay off the strip (like, take a cab cuz ya can't walk it) and is just nasty. Stinks. Carpet fleas. Skanky cocktail waitresses. Etc. Just bad.

I was there for millennium new year. It was expensive during the new year eve (about $100 at tropicana). I moved to Palace Station after 1/1/00, it was $12.50/night!!! I know it is way off the strip (next to freeway) but for $12.50/night, i think it's worth the 5 minutes drive to the strip.

Nice post, I saw it on FW also! I just came back from Las Vegas this past weekend. We stayed at the Flamingo for $35 one night, and $70 the next night! It's a great hotel for the money. The best buffet is the Rio or Mirage in my opinion.

I was in Vegas over Xmas and wow, was it packed!! The buffets at the Bellagio and Paris were swamped but I got in, and they were oh so good. I went with the Luxor deal posted above, which comes with a free one day pass at their Spa which was wonderful. The room in the Pyramid was quite nice and it was fun to ride the "inclinator"

if your there for the new year....the best hotels are at the stip/flamingo or strip/tropicana. That cuts down on cab fare. Dont rent a car, its a pain to drive around the strip. I used to live there

hey wjones....I was on the strip during the millenium...I actually saw the guy who climbed the light post & died

I'm getting married in Vegas in April. I hope the rooms are lower then. We are calling around now, and are finding rooms at $200 or more per nite where we want everyone to stay. Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons or MGM. It'd be nice to get something under $100/nite then.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

>>Seedy ? That's what Las Vegas ( strip ) is all about .<<

You're kidding, right? I'm writing this in the shadow of the LV Hilton and can assure you that very little, if anything, "on the Strip" is seedy. In fact, it's some of the most expensive real estate in the world. Check it out.

Off the Strip is another matter. Would not recommend the Gold Spike for the less traveled folk, but the Castaways (formerly Showboat) is fine for those on a budget.

just got back last week, stayed at the golden nugget. it's downtown where all the older casinos are, but still nice. i like those down there better than the ones on the strip.

btw the stardust (when i was there) was adverstising 39$ double rooms, with 2 free meals each night of the stay.

if you go, make sure you see the blue man group at the luxor

If you want to go high class, I highly recommend the Four Seasons. I just got back and scored a great deal on Thurs night ($150). Fri was more expensive at $250, but for Vegas' only five star resort, it's cheap (actually, I think Bellagio just scored five stars). The Paris was going for $300/night, so this rate wasnt bad at all.

Not to mention that we scored with free tickets from the Concierge to Mystere, which more than paid for our first night's stay.

We got these rates through AAA, so if you're going to Vegas, it's worth price shopping through the Auto club first. They also have some pretty good rental car rates (usually through Hertz if in So. CA).

james88, I hope you are not taking credit for compiling this list of hotel discounts. You need to give credit where credit is due. If you read the original listing, it says specifically that you must credit the source. This list is compiled weekly by Phil Feldman and can be easily viewed at this site. This is a great resource for travelers to Las Vegas as the rates available in the LA Times newspaper are not published elsewhere. Have fun!

Anyone familiar with this list posted on govegas.about.com? Is this something that posted quite often and kept up to date?

I.e. if I have a trip scheduled this spring, could I bookmark this page and get the revised specials? Or is this just a 1-time thing?

I got married at the Flamingo Hotel in the garden this past March 17. We then had our reception dinner in a private dinner room at the top of the Stratosphere. WOW! Is all I can still say. We had about 30 people with us all together and people are still talking about it. Highly reccomend the strat. Make sure to hit the observation deck as well. Going back to Vegas again this march for our first anniversary. Cant wait! cheapovegas.com is the best site!!
