My question is...where did the laser come from?
This has happened to a southwest pilot over las vegas. It was a laser from a casino light show. Maybe the same case here.

"Ladies and gentlemen we are now making our final approAAAAAHHH SONOFABITCH"
...at which point the jetliner starts doing barrell rolls while the captain runs up and down the aisles screaming like a little girl...

Hell, it probably was a National Guard fighter on routine patrol playing "war games" with the airliner, targeting him with his laser rangefinder, simulating a shot, then moving on. That's so common it's not funny. Unfortunately, those targeting rangefinders are fairly powerful and I suppose could burn one's eyes if it just happened to illuminate the cockpit or passenger cabin just right.
Sucks though........

Too bad US military aircraft use RADAR for rangefinding, not lasers.
