I've been buying from newegg.com since 2001. Since then, I have placed hundreds of orders both personal and for work, and NEVER failed to recieve an item which I ordered.
In the last weeks, that has changed. First an microSATA SSD, I get a bubble-wrap mailer with an invoice inside and no product at all. The end shows signs of being opened and resealed. I call and report the issue, newegg is kind enough to file a claim and send a replacement SSD. Interestingly, it was shipped via Lasership.
Then today, I notice that some memory I ordered still hasn't arrived. I check tracking, note that it showed delivery over a week ago, on Friday the 10th, at 6:35pm, at my condo leasing office. Oops, the leasing office closes at 6pm. Call the leasing office and the lady confirms that the Lasership delivery guy often shows up during her lunch break and leaves packages outside, and apparently in this case he arrived after the office was closed and left the package outside for anyone to take. I'm not exactly living in a high crime area, but if some $200 worth of computer hardware is left outside over the weekend it's probably not going to still be there on Monday.
I call newegg again, and they are more than happy to replace the item and ship a new one, but they can't offer a real solution. I ask if my account can be flagged so that shippers require a signature, nope. I ask if I can pay extra shipping to guarantee a service other than Lasership, nope.
Apparently the best they can do is ship to my work address, but I'm not sure that would be a real solution, I could just see the idiots from Lasership leaving my order outside when they arrive after business hours.
