Ok, pulling the trigger on this today barring any glaring issues someone can see.

Case: P180

PS: Corsair HX520

Mobo: GA-965P-DS3

CPU: E6420

Mem: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ

Video: EVGA 256-P2-N624-AR GeForce 7900GS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 KO

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

DVD: LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model LH-20A1L-05

Monitor: Samsung 226BW

This is a basic build, not a big gamer/OC'er, just want a stable system.
I guess my concerns are:

Will the memory be OK with that board?
Will the PSU cables be long enough with that case?
Will I need any other cooling than stock fans/HS?
Is there a reason why getting a 19" Samsung monitor would be a bad idea?
(The 22 is huge for where it's going)

Thanks for all input.

if you are bent on sticking with DX9 support on your GPU, i'd go with the 7950 GTKO or the X1950PRO. Performance wise, the cards are neck and neck, especially in the PCIe market. I personally bit the bullet to drop another 60 bucks and got DX10 support in the 340Mb nVidia 8800GTS OC from MSI.

The CPU will be fine on stock cooling provided you do NOT overclock it. The minute you turn the needles up, you need more cooling. I'd suggest one of the Orbs or something similar that moves alot of air over alot of surface area.

I have that same Lite-on SATA DVDRW and i LOVE IT. I almost bought the same HD you have, and got talked into getting a raptor instead. I spent nearly 2x the price...but eh...what the hell, I have a RAPTOR!!! LOL

If you are shopping Newegg, they have the Corsair XMS2 memory on sale, and it's on the approved memory list from Gigabyte (that is a Gigabyte mobo, right?), additionally, I really like the memory so far.

did some more research... roll with the 7900 GS. Not a bad deal right now. Beats out the 1950PRO at $/perf. I still say drop another bone and get DX10 capability so you can play Crysis
