Saw Judas priest and uriah heep last night. Both bands played their asses off. Halford seems a little long in the tooth but can still belt em out. We had phenomenal seats but it was a smaller venue. I don't think there was a bad seat in the house.

I used to go to concerts all the time but now that I'm an old fart I worry about my hearing too much. Also ticket prices are completely out of hand for most shows.
I've worn a reasonably priced pair of Etymotic ER20 earplugs for a while now, cuts the volume without making everything sound muffled.Yea no shit I went to a hot tuna concert years ago at the Wax Museum in DC and it was so freaking loud I had to leave. Fist convert I saw was Led Zeppelin at the baltimore civic center and we sat way back in the corner and my ears hurt I can't imagine the folks up front. So I don't go anymore I've already lost some hearing. Maybe classical or bluegrass but definitely not rock..
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival weekend before last. I try to go every year and wearing my quad roller skates with a DSLR and big 18mm-250mm zoom lens. I took over 1000 photos. It's a psychedelic experience, although I took no drugs.
They had heightened security, but things didn't change majorly. I did spot some uniformed security personnel with automatic weapons, first time in my life. I took a few shots of them, will try to find one in particular and embed in this post.View attachment 12125
Things got tougher after that... there was Altamont. The worst has been the Las Vegas massacre. That's absurd. Woodstock had Wavy Gravy and the Hog Farm for security.

By some accounts, the Hells Angels were hired as security by the management of the Rolling Stones, on the recommendation of the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane (who both had previously used the Angels for security at performances without incident), for $500 worth of beer. .
Yeah, hiring the Hells Angels really backfired on the Stones. Really a dumb ass move.Lol yea Altamont whose brilliant Idea it was to have the Hells Angels as your security.
:/check this out.
I'll have to look into that stuff. I've been using bits pulled off cotton balls for many years after having suffered some permanent hearing loss, very likely from all the loud concerts I went to in the 80's. By the 90's I had started protecting what's left of my hearing. My tests indicate I have normal hearing below 3k hz, but attenuated around 50% over that. Also, I have permanent 24/7 tinnitus... something YOU DO NOT WANT! Around the house, if near something loud (my power tools or my kitchen blender) I wear ear muffs I bought from Harbor Freight (cheap). I'm unaware of my hearing deteriorating since I started wearing protection.I've worn a reasonably priced pair of Etymotic ER20 earplugs for a while now, cuts the volume without making everything sound muffled.
Got a set of Eargasm plugs that I haven't had a chance to try out yet.
