I disagree. It should be common sense that most states charge tax although I agree the title could say SB or Small Biz since most seasoned Hot Dealers know that Dell SB charges tax.

Then again none of this matters to me since Oregon has ZERO sales tax.

Well the title of the thread is "Dell Inspiron 2650 Laptop P4-1.6GHz $1039 shipped..." and since most people are unlucky and DON'T live in Oregon, we will be paying tax

I've been around here awhile and had no idea Dell charged sales tax. I was thinking about doing this deal, but the sales tax kills it for me...wish I had time to wait for the Costco laptop deal.

Mr.Diggler, Dell Home does not charge tax for most states, while Dell Small business charges tax except for Oregon.

Doesn't Costco charge tax too?

Thanks for the Dell-tax clarification, bit. And thanks for the laptop deals post in the first place.

Yes, Costco charges tax, but that still keeps that nice laptop price under $1000, with DVD and 256MB RAM. Only a year warranty worries me a little on it though...and I'd prefer a 15" screen for $100 more if that was available.

Tax is a big deal for me, it is 8.6% which is $98, $109, or $114 for the three laptops listed above. (Only $77 for the Costco one.)

The Toshiba Satellite 1105 for $899 @ CostCo is indeed a killer deal. Regarding the one year warranty if you use a CostCo/Amex cc you get an extra year of extended warranty for FREE. If you don't already have a CostCo/Amex cc ($0 annual fee, up to 2% cash rebate, doubles as your CostCo membership card) then you can apply for one here and it should arrive before you buy your Toshiba laptop.

Wow, thanks for that advice.

Now I just have to decide if I can wait until the end of August for a laptop... I really do need it for a trip coming up here shortly.

Well you're in a quandry, I think bang for your buck you can't beat the Toshiba/CostCo $899 deal. Although it would be nice to have a laptop on your upcoming trip I'd say WAIT. Apply for the Amex/CostCo card now, it should arrive in 2 weeks (I was surprised that I was approved with a $2k limit although I have about 10 credit accounts most of which are maxed out), then wait until the end of August to buy it. With the Amex/CostCo you'll receive 1 extra free year of warranty coverage.

Many other amex credit cards offer double warranty too. I recommend Amex gold business if you have good credit history, in addition to double warranty, it has
1) extra 5% off at Dell Small Business, not stackable w/ other % off, but in many cases it is stackable w/ other $ off promotions.
2) pricematch capability
3) first year annual fee $75 waived
