Well here goes nothing

I have been dealing with a strange problem for quite some time. It has been bothering me and limiting my ability to enjoy life to its fullest.

When I wake up in the morning I feel really tired, not a normal feeling. The sleep can range from 6-14 hours with no change in feeling. I have taken a wide variety of medicines (Ambien, Anti-D, Melatonin). The anti-D medicines cause me to have bad nausea (currently taking protonix because of bad GERD).

So the morning routine is getting very old, it has been happening for quite some time. Some days I feel really tired and exhausted after eight hours of sleep and at other times feel really sick to my stomach. If I do nothing for an hour or so the sickness will go away.

Now I eat lunch and proceed to feel extremely tired, in fact the less I eat the more energy I have. This has been getting progressively worse, it does not seem to matter what I eat but rather how much.

This is the deal breaker, every night I come home and feel weak and tired. No idea as to why. If I eat supper then I will fall asleep for a few hours and wake up feeling sick/nauseous. I try to avoid eating anything now until all the errands are run and exercise is complete.

Unfortunately it is all getting worse and worse, it is ruining what I did have. I do not want to hang out anymore with folks or stay out late. I know it will be a train wreck the next day.

This is what I have done:

Multiple doctor's and doctor visits.
Blood work done in the early morning (couple of times). Thyroid and blood sugar test, followed by the normal stuff.
Exercise heavily in the evening, tried the morning stuff but...
Many medications including but not limited to: Ambien, Anti-D, Vitamins, Melatonin, Fish Oil, Pomegranate and a few other medicines.

Have you tried controlling your circadian rhythms? Waking up in the morning and going for a walk in bright, morning light will help dictate when you get tired. Also, going to sleep at the same time each night and waking up the same time each morning will really help solidify your body rhythms. I know you've tried a lot of things and this sounds simple, but it might really help. Who knows, it's not invasive and it doesn't hurt to try.

Oh, if you can't get bright light in the morning, you can get full spectrum lighting that will have the same sort of effect. Just thought I'd mention that.

Sleep Apnea perhaps??

I had it BAD. The sleep study technician woke me after 30 minutes and asked me how I could possibly function during the day with as bad as I was.

I was unable to operate a vehicle for more than 45mins without dozing off. I often fell asleep mid conversation with my spouse and more or less felt like SHIT.

Typically the more I slept, the worse I felt.

Just a guess but one never knows

Good Luck in finding a remedy

What are you eating for lunch and dinner? I'm going to guess 'carb heavy' food like rice, pasta, potatoes, chips. Have 1/2 your carb heavy foods at lunch and eat more fruit after it. This may help with you feeling tired after lunch and dinner.

I have no suggestions for the morning but I know I feel smashed after 6hrs for 3-4 days in a row....

I am going to the sleep doctor shortly, hopefully within a week or two. What did they do to fix your issue?
