Well the original post explicitly stated the launch date was Nov 3rd, not the NDA lift date.

So if the original post was wrong then why would Intel request the poster delete the post?

You really fancy Intel to be so paranoid about keeping the NDA lift date a secret that even when someone gets it completely wrong and says "launch date" instead of "NDA lift date" that Intel would send them a nicely scripted cease and desist PM?

Besides it was also stated in the thread but on a separate post that the NDA lift date was Nov 2. So if this was just about the NDA date then why were ALL the posts edited?

So we have a conundrum here. The poster said Nov 3 launch date, Nov 2 NDA lift. Then they edited it to say Intel requested they delete all that info.

So which part was the cause of Intel's consternation? The launch date of Nov 3, or the NDA lift date of Nov 2?

You aren't proposing that Intel is just on some crusade to right all incorrect posts (speculation) regarding both launch and NDA lift dates?

If so then I can't wait for a PM from my local Intel rep asking me to kindly delete the following message:

NEWS ALERT: My local Intel rep just showed me his latest paperwork from Intel stating the release date for i7 is Nov 3, NDA lift date is Nov 2.

Note to Intel - I am now waiting for PM requesting I correct this post...

By all means Idontcare, I really hope your local Intel rep is providing you with factual information, because I really do care if the launch is to be as early as stated.

Sorry guys that was just my attempt at a really bad joke.

The point I was trying to make is that anyone can claim they are being gagged by Intel, zero proof is needed on these interwebz.

Whether Nov 3 is a release date, a NDA lift date, all of the above, none of the above...I highly doubt Intel went to any lengths whatsoever to tell the OBR poster dude on XS forums to take down his posts.

What I really believed happened is that the guy realized his post was crazy wrong, maybe he has contacts who really do know and they clued him in. But rather than just admit the errors or let the thread go away and sink into oblivion he elected to make a claim that Intel requested he change things.

So for the record, Intel did not request me to delete anything, nor did my Intel rep tell me Nov 3rd was the release date. It's all BS, just like the thread on XS.

My apologies to anyone that got overly excited by any of this. Just trying to have some fun while waiting for Nov 17 to roll around.

According to the blog post, the EVGA?s Intel X58-based mainboard, which is due in mid-November, will be followed by the ?ultimate motherboard? due by Christmas.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/m...l_X58_Motherboard.html

X-bit got their info from Fudo, who got his info from Intel. I asked him about this way before the press knew about a "Nov 17th" release date.

And yes, EVGA will be releasing an "Ultimate" edition of their X58 motherboard in December, which means the first model should be released concurrently with Core i7. I talked to a few of the guys over at EVGA and all they could tell me was a mid-November release, so it looks about right.

Good find! And they said Core i7 wouldn't boost gaming performance. This CPU finally makes the game playable at Enthusiast/Very High settings. This CPU destroys Core 2. I am so glad I waited!

Uh, I'm sorry but I don't see the Core2 there

Why is the Ultimate version delayed relative to the i7 launch? Did they just schedule their resources to reflect an expectation that i7 965 won't be readily available until mid-Dec (QX9650's were like this) so they will spend more time fine-tuning before shipping?

Seems like you'd want your flagship product to ship alongside it's lesser brethren when Intel is doing the same with i7 965 and the 940/920.

more likely they wanted the board to be as solid as possible at launch to avoid as many hiccups as possible. remember, this chip has the core2 launch to live up to, not to mention its rep as a performance champ for the last few years. with the evga step up program, im sure anyone who is a launch day adopter but wants the ultimate mobo as well will have no problem buying the launch board, and upgrading it once the ultimate one is out. best part about that plan is that you get to benchmark both boards for the price of one!

Yep, I would assume so. The publicity of Core i7 by various internet sites hasn't been emphasized by the industry as much as it has by the consumers. Intel already knows that they'll be facing shortages in the first 6 to 8 weeks of production, and EVGA is already assuming this will be the case. Therefore, an "Ultimate" edition of the board in December sounds like a viable option, since they'll get all their loyal customers to buy the first EVGA X58 and then "Step-Up" to the second shortly after.

P.S. I'd also like to note that this will be EVGA's first Intel chipset board.

Uhg, rarely (if ever) a good sign for the end consumer to buy the first of any hardware from a company. I pity the first round of beta testers who get to pay for the pleasure of ramping EVGA up their internal learning curve.

EVGA is a Sales, and Service Organization, as Is BFG TECH. and XFX.. They build nothing themselves..

It will be a similar arraignment to the NV Based MOBO's Design Engineering, Release BOM, to a Contract Fab house (Foxconn) they will be supplying other re-branded builders also I'm sure.

the primary difference is Yayo v.s. CaCa.. and the revision/feedback loop should function better.. (Grand Nagus Huang is out of the picture.)

I believe NDA lift is next week. It's likely that a couple weeks later is the official availability date.

It makes sense since it gives all the major hardware sites time to post all their reviews and benchies etc etc. After we have assimilated all that then it's time to buy. Video card releases are like this too at times.

Here is what happened to the store that was selling them:

For anyone thinking about it: I wouldn't plan on going to Central Computers to pick up one of these CPU's.

I was there this morning right before they opened . . . and the guy that walked in the door right before me was the Intel rep. He told them to pull everything i7 off their shelves and not sell them until the 16th. They discovered the original thread from the other forum and sent him there this morning to yank all i7 CPU's from the displays.

I watched as the store employee pulled the 1 Extreme CPU and about 3-4 mid-level CPU out of the display. That latter CPU was in the mid $600's.

If only I was 5 minutes earlier or the Intel rep 5 minutes later, I would have an i7 in my hands right now!!!!!!!!

D'OH!!!!!!!
