Kinda depends on the scope of the paper as far as wireless goes. Wireless is certainly making inroads in the SOHO and home consumer market. It is not a replacement to internal enterprise level cabled LAN's though. Wireless will not replace cabled/wired backbones. Wireless in the work environment, at least anything bigger than a few desk offices, is a nice compliment for mobility's sake but has no business as a LAN core infrastructure. Besides Speed and security, it just is not mission critical dependable. From a guy that installed wireless LAN's and WAN's for close to 5 years, cable rules. At least copper although fiber isn't nearly the cost prohibitive solution is used to be. If you do talk about wireless technologies you should probably do some google searches on Ultra Wide Band. Very promising technology that is in the very early stages of FCC approval. Extremely high bandwidth but still has some obstacles to overcome. Wireless as WAN links also has alot of potential. Western Multiplex, recently bought by Proxim has 480 Mb full duplex point to point bridge hardware currently. Basically gigabit wireless if you consider the Full Duplex into the overal bandwidth equation. While I haven't used their extremely high bandwidth solutions, their 8 12 and 45 Mb Full Duplex bridges work beautifully.
